CBS/Paramount sues to stop Axanar

What parts of the world would that be?

I mean, when did, say, Europe - as an example distinct from a young culture - begin to cultivate this putative "wariness" of demagogues and warmongers - 1946?

I guess we can't go near politics in this thread, and I have seen this requested several times when things started to go there. So if its ok with you, I would like to take this to PM.

Alec seduces them to the darkside! LOL Just curious, who here as actually met Alec, I obviously have, but just curious of the regular posters here. Also, if you have met him, what were your impressions?

I haven't spoken to him, but I saw Mr. Peters at a book signing for Return to Tomorrow in Burbank over a year ago with @Karzak and @Indysolo. Peters was taking pictures with other fans there like he was some sort of star, and loving every minute of it. His motivations were pretty transparent in that moment.

Did anyone else notice that Diana Kinsbury seems to have posted the same massive update about Ares Digital 2.0 on the Kickstarter comments page eleven times in a row today? Conveniently (?), this pushes any comments about complaining to Kickstarter or initiating a class action lawsuit down into oblivion.

IMO, burying donor comments on a readable crowdfunding site is a pretty desperate strategy. Not only does it make other donors say WTF, it creates a permanent record to be reported upon.

@RedForman, do you recall where you got that screen shot from?

I'm pretty sure it came from TampAxanar or one of the other 'parody' twitter accounts (though I can't tell precisely when).

Consider current events and then consider them in light of the pattern I mentioned earlier. There's been talk of a class action lawsuit on Kickstarter and LFIM's back is squarely against the wall. RMB's passive-aggressive rantings and then this bizarre commenting behavior are clear signs of desperation (possibly knowing that they're going to eventually get nailed in court, but trying to keep the donors/general public at bay)

IMO, they can't keep the donors on pause anymore. They've been selling a line that they can win, and that their behavior is in the right, and now the court filings are showing this just isn't the situation. The missing money issue is just around the corner. Studio wants all the money too.

Just a thought, could a public representative sue Peters and Axanar for misusing donated funds? Could they be facing a lawsuit on two sides? That would be fun

If only he actually made the film he promised to make, this whole thing could have been prevented. Now, all he will be remembered for is a con artist who almost ruined treks 50th anniversary. Somehow I don't think it was worth it.

Its all such a shame and such a loss.... he had ready made sets offered for his use. NV already was in good standings with CBS. NV had already made the news. He could have made a decent fanfilm and been talked about at the very least, in the same breath as "Gods and Men" and NV and Continues. This didn't need to happen.....

Just to be clear, I'm sick of the mudslinging.
Oh, I agree, but when someone posts:
Well, Mr Burnett's latest twitter meltdown was certainly interesting.
and doesn't leave any more clue than that, those of us not on Twitter are left in the dark. So, for that, thank you for sharing.

Agree. I'm getting a bad feeling about this whole thing though.
Wrong genre. This is the Star Trek board, not the Star Wars board.

I'm sure this is probably old news around here..........

Red, what's the source for his post saying he (as Propworx) pays him (as Axanar) rent? Could you point me to that? The nearly simultaneous business filings I'm aware of already. Thanks!

I've been posting in the Comments section on the Axanar Kickstarter page; and I guess Alec Peters finally got annoyed enough to send a personal reply:

Just because something is in a court document filed by the plaintiffs doesn’t make it true. We clearly sent them the financials that prove I didn’t take a dime.
But believe the lies. Believe the things that fit your world view and ignore the truth. Just pissing me off so I will never refund your money.

Alec Peters
Executive Producer

I of course decided to send a response:

Considering it's referencing your sworn deposition; I trust it more than any spin you try to put out.
Also it must really gall you to realize just how SMALL your actual contribution to Prelude was. The professionals involved did an amazing job most likely in spite of you more than because of anything you did.

I'm an idiot for not really checking into your background prior to Pledging so yeah that's on me and $75 is at best one nice night out (and more than likely you spent my donation on Sushi at some point.)

Overall for me it's not a big deal but I just find it interesting how far you'll continue to go to avoid the real truth that deep down you're just a crook and con man and a true dishonest and disingenuous person. That's the real truth about you Mr. Peters

So yeah hope you enjoyed the Sushi. Doubt you'll be able to afford a can of tuna when the court case is finished though.

Petty on my part?

Maybe, but I just can't stand raging egotists.

Sure, if you take out the "X" factor that is AP's overinflated ego. Add that back in, and the result is where we are today.

Found it - that comment is attached to a TampAxanar post from 7/26 (and the business filings you're already aware of), so it's not Alec himself saying that. I haven't combed through stuff near as much (or in near as much detail) as you, so I'm not sure if there's any instance where he actually did say that (would probably have to go back and check social media postings and the like)

Well he would have to send a personal email or it would be buried under the 30 SPAM posts he does multiple times daily to hide the questions and comments posted to the Kickstarter page. I wonder which set of financials he speaks of? His original report or the one where he tried to delete all the money he spent on personal items? For such a "brilliant" man how does he think he can get things like that past the court?

L&L are the ones ignoring and twisting facts now??
