Spock episode (season 4)

I really liked the Ideas Micheal Sussman mentioned of a Spock story as the type of finale I would've liked to have seen for season 4.Instead of Tatv.

Nimoy wouldn't come back for Generations. I can't see them convincing him to return for ENT.

That said, I'd be fascinated to see how the ENT creative team would have chosen to portray a young Spock. I kinda suspect it'd be really bland, like Vorik from Voyager. I always had this weird mental image of Berman doing a TOS academy prequel in the 90's with Robert Duncan McNeil as Kirk and Vorik as Spock. *shudder*

I'm glad they didn't use Spock, who wouldn't even be born until decades after ENT, but I did wish they had used some of his ancestors like his grandfather (Skon) or great-grandfather (Solkar).

Although both of those characters were at least mentioned onscreen.

I remember Solkar being the answer to the trivia question "who was the first Vulcn ambassador to Earth?" in Catwalk. When did they mention Skon?

^ He (Skon) translated the teachings of Surak, cannot recall the episode where that is mentioned.

Leonard Nimoy turned down 'Generations' because he didn't like the way Spock was scripted. The lines were generic and interchangeable with ANY character (which is why the 'Scotty' character basically got them.)

Recall that Leonard Nimoy DID do a TNG episode - but that was mostly to cross promote the release of "Star Trek VI:TUC" which releaszxed the same week as that TNG episode aired (and was no doubt planned/timed that way.)

Leorard Nimoy also appeared in the two JJ Abrams films, and had he still been alive would have been in the third one as well.

My point: If they showed Leonard Nimoy a script he found interesting enough, I'm sure he would have played 'Mr. Spock' (or some relation) on ENT.

With William Shatner however, it's all about the money...

I love how it would've sufficiently covered ENT, TOS and TNG eras in one swoop. Archer et all shown in their old age, career progression and facing mortality, keeping it relevant. A young Spock and then Nimoy top & tailing in a framing device presumably set in the 24th. A year off the 40th, it could've been fitting send off for TV Trek for the forseeable. Instead the last adventure was about TNG as the be all and end all of the franchise.

I must disagree Voyager gave us Tuvok a full Vulcan when trek hadn't had one since TOS-Vorik was a supporting character at best.

I agree that Nimoy turned down GEN because he thought the part was inadequate, not because he didn't want to do Trek. I don't think the problem was that the lines were generic - Nimoy is good enough in the part that he could make even bad writing work. The problem was that Spock's presence was basically wasted in the film - you can use Scott or Chekov in just the first scene of the film and get away with it, but doing the same with Spock would violate the principle of Chekhov's Gun.
I think Spock should have occupied the story role that Guinan filled, as it would have solved several of the movie's problems - but it's not like we can use the Nexus to got back and fix things, is it? ;)

Nimoy's fee would've sucked up the entire budget for the episode, practically. It would've been so cheap and unworthy of him that it probably would've been worse than Unification (Part II) was. I'm well-pleased that episode never eventuated ...

I'd be surprised if it wasn't one of the S4 Vulcan trilogy episodes. And obviously those would've been in the last ones I watched recently, but I can't place the line either.
