I'm glad they didn't use Spock, who wouldn't even be born until decades after ENT, but I did wish they had used some of his ancestors like his grandfather (Skon) or great-grandfather (Solkar).
Although both of those characters were at least mentioned onscreen.
Leonard Nimoy turned down 'Generations' because he didn't like the way Spock was scripted. The lines were generic and interchangeable with ANY character (which is why the 'Scotty' character basically got them.)Nimoy wouldn't come back for Generations. I can't see them convincing him to return for ENT.
I must disagree Voyager gave us Tuvok a full Vulcan when trek hadn't had one since TOS-Vorik was a supporting character at best.Nimoy wouldn't come back for Generations. I can't see them convincing him to return for ENT.
That said, I'd be fascinated to see how the ENT creative team would have chosen to portray a young Spock. I kinda suspect it'd be really bland, like Vorik from Voyager. I always had this weird mental image of Berman doing a TOS academy prequel in the 90's with Robert Duncan McNeil as Kirk and Vorik as Spock. *shudder*
I agree that Nimoy turned down GEN because he thought the part was inadequate, not because he didn't want to do Trek. I don't think the problem was that the lines were generic - Nimoy is good enough in the part that he could make even bad writing work. The problem was that Spock's presence was basically wasted in the film - you can use Scott or Chekov in just the first scene of the film and get away with it, but doing the same with Spock would violate the principle of Chekhov's Gun.Leonard Nimoy turned down 'Generations' because he didn't like the way Spock was scripted. Recall that Leonard Nimoy DID do a TNG episode - but that was mostly to cross promote the release of "Star Trek VI:TUC" which releaszxed the same week as that TNG episode aired (and was no doubt planned/timed that way.)
Leorard Nimoy also appeared in the two JJ Abrams films, and had he still been alive would have been in the third one as well.
Ummm... Spock was half-Vulcan.I must disagree Voyager gave us Tuvok a full Vulcan when trek hadn't had one since TOS-Vorik was a supporting character at best.
^ He (Skon) translated the teachings of Surak, cannot recall the episode where that is mentioned.
ST ENT episode -Two days, and two nights (as per Memory beta)I'd be surprised if it wasn't one of the S4 Vulcan trilogy episodes. And obviously those would've been in the last ones I watched recently, but I can't place the line either.
I think you mean Memory Alpha?ST ENT episode -Two days, and two nights (as per Memory beta)
