But @Robert Maxwell pooh-poohed things like, quoting myself, "getting rid of Citizens United, female empowerment, and science as a rule" as a package veto just to get rid of my list of things to change, which included term limits. He didn't like term limits either, so threw the rest under the bus. That post is, maybe, a microcosm of the kind of prevalent and polarized political illogic we're facing.

You're right, you did list all these along with term limits. I'd forgotten, and I'm sorry for that. I still don't think term limits would help anything, though on the others, we agree.

I didn't "pooh-pooh" them, I just didn't comment on them because (surprise!) I agree with those. Why would you assume I "pooh-poohed" them when I didn't even say anything about them?

If people don't say "I love you," do you just assume they hate you? Trying to understand your thought process here.

Nope. Changes nothing. The votes come before the concession. Those who think of Hillary as legitimate already voted for her. You're playing right into Donald's ego.

Yes, Hillarys voters are very important. But if you refuse to see that there are other factors which can make a President more legitimate or less legitimate and that these factors can add up, especially over time, then I give up trying to reason with you on this very simple point.

Can someone explain the logic of

1. Trump wins the media isn't biased
2. Trump loses the media is biased
3. Losing means the elections are rigged

I've had people say this to me today and I am shaking my head but would like something nice to counter that.

The media is biased. That's a given. Ever since the news became a profit center. Different organizations are biased differently. It's like saying someone lost, or won, the election because the sky is blue during the day. Everyone gets to shake their fist at the sky.

Duh.

Media is and has always been biased, but some are open about their biases, some pretend to be "fair and balanced" when they are anything but, and still others make an effort to present as accurate a picture as they can in spite of their biases.

People are biased against Trump the same way reality often has a liberal bias.

He's saying ignorant, disgusting and irrational things. So of course any rational media will look biased when it reports on that. Pointing out his flaws doesn't mean journalists aren't impartial. It means they're doing their jobs. They'd point out irrational and disgusting things Clinton says, too.

That's a given and even I realize that but the thing I can't get is why blame the media if you lose an election? So does that mean from now on everyone that loses will blame the media?

Dictatorship is a marginally concerning problem?
If you think spending 20 years in Congress is "dictatorship" I don't know what to tell you except Alex Jones would love you. Please. Can we possibly be any more of a drama queen about this?

Some countries have leaders who 'win' elections again and again by rigging them. Term limits protect against this.

If they ignore fair elections what makes you think they won't ignore term limits? Those countries where "rigging" happens tend to be dictatorships which are almost always the result of using that flawed form of government.
