Rogue One (2016) [SW Anthology Series)

Rogue One Supercut. It's well done, while I could quibble about a few of the choices, I enjoyed it a lot.

Is that a carbon freezing chamber near the end where Vader is marching towards a (presumably) defeated Krennic?

It looks like he's just come out of a "meditation" chamber pod. An earlier trailer showed Krennic approaching such a pod (closed), surrounded by red Imperial troops. I'm guessing this is the follow-up scene.

These are my impressions. I'm not anti-Jyn or rejecting the movie. She just doesn't interest me as a character as presented. I have no doubt that the trailers are not doing her justice-trailers are often terrible for that.

Did I claim to be fair? Nope. Just an emotional reaction. Take it for what you will or not at all.

Here's the thing though; trailers aren't meant to make you care about the characters, that's the movie's job. The trailers are just supposed to make you want to see the movie in the first place.

Would you prefer one of the trailers that gives a beat for beat summery of a character's entire arc? People generally hate when they do that.

I just felt like trailer #3 shifted the focus as far as Jyn's character. It was a tonal shift that I found odd. Yes, it's a trailer but it was weird to me.

To answer your question, no I don't want beat for beat description of the character's arc. But, as I have stated, I'm already interested in this film. This trailer, however, did not.

Not really sure how else to explain it other than I felt confused about Jyn's character and not invested.

Speaking of Jyn,it's starting to look like by the time everything is released we'll be getting a pretty nice overview of her life. We'll be getting Catalyst, which focuses on her father and Krennic, but will still probably feature her as a child in a fairly significant role, a YA book focused entirely on her, and of course Rogue One itself.

As I don't think Vader's going up against an opponent armed with a lightsabre, I don't see how he's going to get anything chopped off.
I don't see the point of it anyway. Getting his hand chopped off in ROTJ was symbolic. Randomly in Rogue One? Not so much.

It seems people are having a hard time accepting that Rogue One isn't a story that centres around Vader. Hell, he's probably only on screen for a few minutes.

I'll be surprised if his total screen time is anywhere near ten minutes. Thankfully, Disney seems to be downplaying Vader's role in their promotional material for the movie, so no one really has a right to be disappointed when he does end up with a small role in the movie. I suspect the only reason he's even in the trailers is because he is an iconic character.

And based on the way he's marching towards Krennic in the trailer, I wonder if we're about to witness some chopping in that scene.

Darth Vader looked a bit pissed at the start of A New Hope and his only lead to the Rebels hidden base was Princess Leia. I think he's going to have plenty of bodies to his kill count.

This is a guess not a spoiler - earlier in the filming process the director talked about how part of the dynamics of this film was a Universe without Jedi to save your ass. So my *guess* is that most of Vader's screen time is towards the end where he's largely silent and kills most if not all of them but they still get the plans away.

Oh yeah, I wouldn't be surprised if the scene with him and Krennic in the trailer is the only scene he's in.

Oh he can be on screen for five seconds as long as he gets another limb chopped off. I just want to set the record one higher than it already is. He's lost 5 limbs over the course of the franchise and honestly I think that's hilarious.
