So the first issue of Boldly Go came out today and I enjoyed it. I was surprised to see the characters from the Starfleet Academy mini series make an appearance in this issue.

    What did everybody else think?

I looked through the preview on Comixology, and I was surprised to see Kirk with a whole new crew. Does this mean that they've spread the cast out, rather then just dropping them all on Endeavour in their old Enterprise jobs?

Basically yes. but I don't wanna spoil anything, you are just going to have to get it and read it for yourself.

I liked the new crewmembers we did have - and look forward to seeing them develop over the course of the series. It would be nice if they kept going with Boldly Go when Kirk and the Enterprise regulars folded back into the movie-series, with replacement characters -

And is the Endeavour supposed to be an Aegis Class? It doesn't look quite right for a Constitution Class.

Loved the Academy cameos, not jazzed about the reveal on the last page. At all.

as I was re-reading this issue, I kinda wish Beyond did end with the crew being re-assigned temporarily until the new Enterprise was finished being built. It could've also been the premise for the first half of XIV.

This issue really knocked it out of the park for a series launch.

Jaylah cameo: yes! Starfleet Academy cameos: yes! Navigation officer Darwin: yes! Kelvin Timeline Clark Terrell: yes! Probably the first Romulan in this timeline's Starfleet: yes! Borg.....I hope this isn't going to be a trainwreck!

Urghhh. The Federation in 2261 cannot logically have a presence this close to the Delta Quadrant border, but oh well.

I certainly hope that 0718 appears in this series.

Did The Enteprise already go to the DQ in previous issues?

Disappointed in the ending, I am not a fan of using TNG villains that were new to that generation and bringing them forward 100 years. Seems too contrived to me. What next the discovery of Odo and the Bajoran wormhole? Plus some of the drawings don't do justice to the canon characters, Uhura looks different and so does McCoy

IIRC, the story about Sarek and the renegade Vulcans seeking revenge back in the Ongoing's first year did have survivors from Nero's crew travelling back and forth from an outpost along the Delta Quadrant's border. If they can do that, why can't the Federation have a presence there?

Odd question maybe, but is the Endeavour also a Constitution like the Enterprise, or a new class?

Because 100 years later it takes Janeway 7 years to make a similar trip and that includes major short cuts lol

That's good. Would have kinda odd if they had a Connie lying around, give that to Kirk for a year, then give him another Connie called Enterprise again. This makes sense.

In a way, they've gone back to a pre-TNG kind of warp drive, the kind that allows for fairly rapid travel across the Galaxy, anywhere from the center to its edge.

Which makes Voyager's original timetable of 70 years to get to Federation space even more pathetic

Pretty much. The Voyager kind of looks awfully slow in comparison.
