Customers...

I've been lucky in customer service. Only a handful of belligerence in my experience. One woman got immediately abusive when she assumed I over rang a product. I'm pretty sure what happened was her items stuck together when she loaded them in the cart but by the time I got them, they separated (gift tags. the cling wrap tends to...cling)
She shouts at me, "Do you kids not know how to count anymore?! Do I have to do your job for you? I just got off of my own! I specifically picked up only two gift tags!"

I click my tongue because was nineteen and feeling sassy, pulled out the items in question and looked her in the eye while counting 1-2-3. And put it back in the bag.
'I wanna see your manager! '
I see the other customers mouths hanging open. They know she's wrong. I said "Gladly."

Her transaction was voided per her request and she stomped out because she was too prideful to admit she put three in her cart. not two.

Of course not, I generally can not remember who you are and yet you seemed earlier to know who I was.

I don't know who you are. I just happen to remember our previous interactions, which is really no big deal. It takes me months, nay years to forget things, no matter how unremarkable they are. It a gift... and a curse.

If enough people pay for stuff that was sent to them but they never actually ordered, then those evil fopdoodles running the con will make money.

Thanks for the info. It makes me feel better that I wasn't the only one it was happening to, and it's reassuring to know that I don't really have to do anything. It must be a bit more common than I originally thought.

Yes, that the best response, no response. They'll never attempt any action because they don't have a leg to stand on and they know it.

Yeah, closing time customers.

This was one of my biggest annoyances when I worked in retail. We closed at 6pm. We'd be dead from 5pm so I'd generally make sure the place was tidy and life was easy for the next morning.

So clearly 5:50-5:55pm was the rush time. Usually the same people, visiting every day, just to check the sale rail, rushing through it like a hurricane, buying one item no more than £3 (if anything was bought at all) and then complaining about the mess (that they made).

At one stage I had a couple run in close to finishing. She wanted to buy a shirt. I directed her to the womens department. Who then directed her back to me (kids). Who then directed her back to womens wear. Three minutes left on the clock, she finally tells me she wants a school shirt for her new job which starts in half an hour - so.... kids wear.

This puzzled me greatly. We had some shirts for teenage girls that would, in theory fit her if she was a teenage girl. She was, instead, an early 20's lady with a small waist and, at minimum, a G cup bust and insisted that the skinny fit shirts would be fine. As long as she tried them on. Problem was by the time this was sorted it's past closing, we had to lock the tills and there was no way of stopping her trying on a selection of shirts on the middle of the shop floor.

On a normal day a busty young lady disrobing to try on a variety of tight, skimpy outfits would make an ideal day. Retail after closing, however...

Really, do I really have to ask which location, as if it hadn't occurred to them that there are more than a few in the area. In fact, there are three Starbucks right off the street I'm on, alone.

I am honestly nor surprised.

While not a customer situation - not too long ago I was doing door to door charity fundraising. One of the key skills for the job is the ability to read a map, and be aware of your surroundings since we're generally following each other around housing estates.

Every single time we lost someone, it was a certainty the best description they could give to their location was "Near the block of houses." or "At some flats." Or on one special occasion. "Just crossing this road, can you see me?"

^ You should never feel bad for raising your voice to aggressive door-too-door jackasses.

You should also never feel bad if you are inside your house, watch them (via the peephole) come up and ring the doorbell then walk away (them assuming you're not home), and then walk out on your porch to deliberately let them know you've been ignoring them. Trust me, this is very effective.

While I've never done sales door to door, and worked for a very ethical company, I've had this a lot as people just assumed we were the aggressive salesmen types. Not surprising, really. But I got more people answering the door naked than I did being aggressive!

Even if they ignore the sign "NO SALESMEN, POLITICIANS OR RELIGIOUS CALLERS", I just slam the door without a word.

I've done this - it's easy to slip into the routine of knocking first THEN seeing the sign when you're on autopilot :/ Thankfully I'm a polite bugger and would just apologise for not seeing the sign, pitch nothing and say goodbye. Never hurts to apologise for a fuck up and leave a good impression.

As a customer, it was really flipping annoying to close up work early one day to go to a specialty travel bookstore in another city, fighting traffic for two hours just to get there, only to find that they closed obscenely early that day and I only had two minutes to browse. A little flexibility would be nice.

Did you call them in advance?

There's something ironic about this.
