Mr. Robot, Season Two

That was a pretty great season finale. I was a bit apprehensive considering how many open ends there were going in, but it covered a lot of questions almost effortlessly... what Phase 2 is, Tyrell's status, what Joanna's been up to, FBI knowing more than we knew but still not enough, Romero's fate, where Trenton and Mobely are, and all that was packed into some great character interactions.

Looking forward to season 3. :techman:

I think what really shocked me was Angela's reaction. Tyrell was so overly-emotional that I kept going back and forth, just like Elliot. Is he real or isn't he?

So, is Leon showing up "where he is," as a bodyguard or an assassin? Did the Dark Army send him there to retrieve them or get rid of them?

Holy crap. Quite the cliffhanger.

I was frustrated that the finale didn't resolve more things. I really expected the paper record battery fire to happen in THIS episode. That should have been the ending of the season.

At this point in the show, White Rose is the most fascinating character to me. What does he want? What's his end game? Does he want to destroy modern society because of its LGBTQ repression?

So, Tyrell shooting Elliot proves that he was real, right?

I think Elliot's prison buddy showing up for the two hackers was just to pressgang them into White Rose's plan.

White Rose IS fascinating. Is he really just a cross-dresser, potentially transgender or does he, too, have another personality? He refers to his "sister;" is that just a cover or does he really believe that? The two people are so incredibly different, although both have the same obsession with time. I'm dying to know just what the hell is going on.

God DAMN, it's going to be a long wait.

I believe White Rose was only talking about his sister as a cover for the dresses. I doubt he actually has split personalities I think that would be way too repetitive of Elliot.

Which means White Rose was born a man but identifies as a woman, right? That's what I'd always assumed.

I really expected the paper record battery fire to happen in THIS episode. That should have been the ending of the season.
I didn't expect that, and I disagree that that should have been how this finale ended.

In this season, we have seen the stakes go up in terms of what sorts of lines the protagonists are willing to cross to meet their objectives. We've seen Darlene murder, and we've seen Elliot believe he's committed murder. We've seen fanatical hitmen in action who we believe to be members of the Dark Army and allied with Mr. Robot. We've also seen Leon kill, or at least gravely injure, to protect Elliot, on behalf of White Rose. Gideon was gunned down, and the 5/9 hack has no doubt simply itself resulted in casualties.

The question now is just how far is Elliot willing to go and for what end. It appears that Elliot does not want to blow up a building full of people, innocent or otherwise. He was willing to risk his life to stop that, and although he clearly didn't appreciate just how big a risk it was, because he'd been told by Mr. Robot that he'd killed Tyrell, that lack of appreciation was because he already believed that he had blood on his hands and he was fighting, he believed just with himself, to keep there from being a whole lot more. Elliot has a sense of right and wrong, and we've known that all along, by his hacktivism, beginning in the coffee shop, and his book of CDs.

The dilemma now is what's next in terms of how Elliot will try to do the right thing. Indeed, I hope we get to understand why his psyche is fractured into Elliot and Mr. Robot. From the show so far, in my view, Mr. Robot would seem to be something like an elaborate revenge fantasy that Elliot dreamt up while he was still young that's basically now run amok and actualized itself. Will Elliot finally gain control of himself, and if so how, are central questions, tied into the question of just how far is Elliot willing to go, and to what end. Hanging on the question of whether Elliot will blow up a building full of people, which at that point would basically complete the 9/11 parallel, is in my opinion a great place to stop for now.

I didn't expect Elliot to be culpable in the attack, just that it would happen.

Through Season 2 I've been a little confused at what f.society thought was going to happen because of their attack and if this is what they wanted. They basically created a new global depression. What's the next step?

I figured they thought it would be the opening shot of a revolution, something like an Arab Spring but with the banks and corporations being overthrown by the people.
