Happy 50th birthday thread.

I was a 20 year old University junior with a workload out my butt yet made time to watch that episode. I don't really remember anything about it, just that it flashed across our black and white TV and I felt something important had just happened. I guess I was infected 'cause here we are 50 years later still talking about it.

Happy 50th Star Trek!

"For one half of a century, they have thrilled us with their adventures, amazed us with their discoveries, and inspired us with their courage. Their ship has journeyed beyond imagination; her name has become legend; her crew, the finest ever assembled. We have traveled beside them from one corner of the galaxy to the other. They have been our guides, our protectors, and our friends."
A toast to the finest franchise ever ... and the man who put it down on paper ... Gene Roddenberry.
Happy 50th anniversary, Star Trek. Always to be cherished ... never to be forgotten.
The never-ending adventure continues .... .

That trailer still gives me chills 25 years later.

Nimoy did a variation of it on Symphonic Star Trek with the Cincinnati Pops.
