Not a Trekkie, have question

I was a college student when the original series aired and, of course, have watched since. I need to make reference to a specific episode in a writing project. I recall an episode in which an external brain-only entity was a key part of that episode. Is my memory correct? And, if so, can someone tell me the name of that episode? Thank you.

I could be wrong but I recall Kirk interacting with this brain-entity and reference to no need for body because it was so evolved.

I wager 80 quatloos on Gamesters of Triskelion

What I recall is a large single brain, I believe in a glass enclosure. Had the ability to communicate with Kirk in kind of an ominous voice.

Thank you Laura! I think Sargon it is. Not surprising that specifics of a memory tend to fade after more than 50 years, the last time I watched that episode!

Could have been the parasites from Deneva as well considering they were part of a much larger brain creature! (or was that in the novel?)

Spock's brain spent a certain amount of time outside his skull, chatting with Kirk. I can't remember the name of the episode, though....

At least we were spared the sight of seeing his skull noodles in 'Spock's Brain', unlike 'Gamesters' where multicolored plastic 'brains' were shown. Ugh!

Sargon, Thalassa and Henoch in "Return to Tomorrow" weren't disembodied brains, though -- they were minds preserved as pure energy (though they had once had humanoid bodies).

And they glowed! :wtf:
