What do you want to see in Star Trek 4?

Do you mean like the kids who grew up with careers in the space program as adults who credit Star Trek as their inspiration?
What are you talking about? I've never heard of a kid that grows up with a career. Not sure what your point is.

Please excuse my poor grammar:

No I don't mean them. In terms of box office, they're a completely insignificant group. Not sure what your point is.

Obviously, and I think you do know, my point is that Star Trek does appeal to kids, as you can see in the excluded part of my post you chose to not quote - and has appealed to kids for a very long time.

It appeals to some kids, but it is neither marketed at them nor does it compete with the far wider variety of options available to kids today than was the case in the 60s through the 90s. Moreover, it wasn't marketed at kids when it first came out. So while it may be kid "friendly", it's not a "kid show".

I was a kid when I got into Trek in the 90s. But it just appears the series is not as popular with kids, as it was even 20 years ago. There's many more options for kids and teens for entertainment now

They would sooner have him crash into the red matter with Kelvin and the singularity magically sends him forward in time, he is found, and meets his son. It works all around to explain the lack of the age difference.

Except for the fact that the Red Matter was on the Jelley fish with Spock prime, which was not on the Narada when the Kelvin crashed into it.

Only three movies in and we're already bound by canon! I thought the deal was that canon is optional now?

How about there was the whole vortex thingie?

However, the Narada had not fully emerged from its wormhole, IIRC (at the very least, a handwaving "it hadn't closed yet" is available--who knows what the collision/warp core explosion interaction with the wormhole might have produced?).

I know what I DON'T want to see:

- A villain motivated by any kind of revenge
- An insane and/or corrupt Starfleet Captain/Admiral
- A superweapon that can destroy whole planets
- The Enterprise getting slapped and halfway destroyed yet again (make her kick some ass at last!)
- Klingons without helmets
- Aliens that look like they come from a Galaxy far, far away

It looks like you're describing an episode of Columbo.

That's actually a good idea ... except that we shouldn't know who did it right from the start. Let some murders happen on the Enterprise and build up suspense until the last ten minutes, when it turns out that Spock had been replaced by Sylar who has gotten brainhungry again. Hey, they could even use Zachary Quinto's twin brother for the scenes they both are in!

Edit: I just realised that they are not twins ... but you always could use Joe Quinto as a lunatic Sybok, who is running around the Enterprise killing off one redshirt after the other.

Yes, don't think you could mistake one for the other, not unless you squint really really hard.;)

There, nice and cheap.

Beyond was a step in the right direction for me.

Get out in space and do some real exploring. No Earth. Just our heroes and space.
