Marc Daniels and Joe Pevney

Spock's Barber

Rear Admiral
Rear Admiral
I saw an interview with the late Joe Pevney where he stated that he left TOS because he grew tired of Shatner and Nimoy's antics and squabbling.

I never have seen anything that describes the reason why Marc Daniels left TOS after directing only one 3rd season episode, "Spock's Brain". I have my guess as to why he bailed. Anyone know the real reason?

Spock is wearing the laced wrestling shoes for all of the planet scenes in This Side of Paradise, even early on when in uniform.

I understood it wasn't the actors but the corporate like micro-managing atmosphere that permeated TOS production soon after Paramount took over.

Cool! I hereby award you the Starfleet Citation for Conspicuous Gallantry and the Karagite Order of Heroism.:techman:

Thanks! Here's a couple more TOS director interviews:

Vincent McEveety ("Balance of Terror", "Miri", "Dagger of the Mind", etc.)

Leo Penn ("The Enemy Within", The Bionic Woman, Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea, Lost in Space), and Herb Kenwith ("The Lights of Zetar")

Outstanding! You're promoted from red shirt to 1st Officer in charge of making sure all the Enterprise doors go 'Swoosh' when they open.

I read an interview somewhere--don't remember where--in which he stated that he and Fred Freiberger disagreed over what the role of a director should be... apparently Freiberger though that directors should be totally subordinate to the producer in all matters, including creatively. Daniels disagreed and walked after "Spock's Brain."

Sounds like Starlog interview linked to earlier in this thread.
