Star Trek - Avenger (Fan Art for a Fan Fic)

Here's the final character profile image with the full "Alpha Shift" crew of the USS Avenger.

I've also come up with the ship history for the story:

The USS Avenger (Avenger-class) is an older border patrol ship that's about 14 years old by the time the "Avengers" become the crew of the ship. Being that it's older and she's been worked hard during her career, the ship is set to be decommissioned at the start of the story. However, due to the exemplary service of the ship and it's final crew, a new, modified Constitution-class starship will be taking the name Avenger with the crew transferring ships upon her commissioning (the new Avenger is under construction at Starbase Albany, where the story itself is based out of; Albany is commanded by Commodore Nicholas Fury). During the months between ships, the story takes time to establish and explore each character and their families in turn. Then, once the new USS Avenger is finished, things kick off into full gear and the real adventure begins. :)

|'m really loving all that you are doing here. However for Romanoff, how about an all Black uniform with red highlights? It would make her stand out more as Intelligence and less confused with Wanda.

Well here's the thing about Romanoff: she's the queen of undercover. Her actual assigned division is Operations and she is also the Intelligence Officer but by position alone (hence why she doesn't have an intelligence badge...). In the story she will have ties to Section 31, along with Fury (duh... lol) but since that is all kept very under wraps then it's better for her to maintain her Operations designation.

I also didn't want her to stand out from the crowd as that would be counter-intuitive to her job of being able to blend in. :)

Makes sense, I continue to look forward to updates.

It looks like a harder-edged, less frivolous version of the nuTrek aesthetic; the engineering layout reminds me of Enterprise and Phase II as well. I see the warp core uses arc-rector technology as well. Bridge layout looks mostly ok, but the aux stations right in front of the window don't seem very logical to me.

Your illustration quality is excellent. Did you make all the elements yourself or are these pieces from a toolkit of sorts?

I came up with the concepts and designs myself and the falke2009 and bobye2 on DeviantArt did the actual isomorphic images of the spaces.

I'm glad that you recognized the arc reactor tech in the warp core considering that Stark is the chief engineer. :)

The mix of design elements draws from the Kelvin and Kobayashi Maru (Scenario) bridges from the 2009 movie but keeps away from the overly flashy interiors of the Enterprise. The Avenger isn't supposed to be a flashy diplomatic ship or flagship but rather a work horse of a heavy cruiser. So basically this version of the Constitution-class is to the Enterprise what the Insight Helicarriers are to the original 2012 Helicarrier. Easiest way to compare the two lol.

I'm still working on the orthographic designs of the Avenger herself, so those are forthcoming as well.

Your registry number changed between the first image and the rest.

You could make her NCC-09-A. It would imply that your universe had an NX-Class NX-09 USS Avenger to parallel the ISS Avenger from "In A Mirror Darkly", and, it would give you another opportunity to use the stylized Avengers A on the hull of the ship. ;)

Well damn, that's what happens when I'm working on multiple images at the same time and not paying enough attention lol. I've fixed all the images on my DA account, but these are still linked to old URL's so they won't be updated.

With reference to the registry number, I kinda wanted to stay away from going with the -A format as I really feel that's something reserved for the Enterprise herself.

The three ships to carry the name Avenger in my fic would be these:
  • NX-09 (NX-class)
  • NX-0610 (Avenger-class)
  • NCC-1810 (Constitution-class)

Maybe instead of NX-0610 it could be NX-0616? (A reference to the primary Marvel universe being known as Earth-616).

This is what you wonderful people are for! NX-0616 it is. :)

Now have to figure out what registry number to give the USS Milano. Figured I'd let the Guardians have a cameo since we're in space. :P

Started working on the upgraded Constitution-class USS Avenger. This is just her stardrive section so far and includes the saucer separation latches and control room. So, before you go saying that she's missing her saucer, I already know that. :)
Working to finish the add-ons to the warp nacelles (the grilles currently on the sides are just place holders) first then will be adding the saucer on.

I've also updated image links and such in previous posts in this thread now that I'm a full member and can edit my posts/threads. :)

The image edits simply take care of color swaps, registry number fixes and so forth.

I like the designs so far; the uniform designs are particularly well done. However, I think you're veering into fanwank territory with the placement of that many torpedo tubes, at least from a visual perspective. I think they could be more organic to the design, right now they seem a bit slapped on IMO.

My modifications to the secondary hull of the ship simply give it 4 forward and 4 aft torpedo launchers. That number isn't unheard of given that the "roll bar" used on the Kelvin-derived ships in the 2009 Star Trek has 4 forward launchers and 4 aft launchers. Also, the reason for the launchers not looking organic to the design is that those sections of the ship were designed as a spaceframe "addition" to the original Constitution's frame. Post-Narada Incident design add-on that turned into a once-off due to Admiral Marcus pushing the Dreadnought-class design forward through Section 31.

If anything, the Vengeance herself is the ultimate fanwank design, and she's canon. ;)

You must have been forgetting the Enterprise's extra torpedo tubes from that movie that seamless fit into the hull.

To my knowledge the Enterprise has 1 fore and 1 aft torpedo tube each. What "extra" tubes are you referring to?

The ones from this scene

They can apparently launch a barrage of 72 photon torpedos.

LOL, yeah the 72 additional torpedo tubes that turned the Enterprise into the equivalent of a Typhoon-class Ballistic Missile Submarine in space. I'm completely disregarding those launchers as that is about as un-Starfleet as you can get. Those launchers make absolutely 0 sense.

I'm sticking with the fore/aft launchers as depicted in every other form of media the Enterprise is in such as ST(2009) the Star Trek game (2013), ST:B, and STO.
