Series 10 News Thread (Spoilers, naturally)

Hopefully not another Dickensian Christmas (it only ever snowed in London at Chrsitmas three or four times during his life). Since it's not a Christmas special, the odds are good that it's not.

Would, say, that years Christmas special count as series 10? So, he doesn't regenerate in the season, but does so in the Christmas special? To be clear, I actually want to see him in Series 11, and see how his Doctor works with someone new in charge. I'm just not sure if him not regenerating in Series 10 might just mean he regenerates right after it.

Missy may not be in Season 10
Didn't Michelle Gomez already confirm she was in season 10?

You're absolutely right, he can easily regenerate in the 2017 Christmas special, and they're still keeping his promise of no regeneration in season 10.
Assuming he does season 11, does that put him ahead of Tennant as longest running modern Doctor?
Depends how you look at it. Four full seasons is more then Tennant did (three full and a handful of specials). In terms of episode count, Capaldi will have had 51 after season 11, Tennant had 47, so yes, Capaldi wins there too. Although in terms of length of time gone by in the real world, Tennant would win. Tennant spent 4 years 1 week exactly in the role. Assuming season 11 begins on Easter weekend (which would mean March 31, 2018) it will end June 16, 2018, which is exactly 3 years, 9 months and 3 weeks after Deep Breath aired.

It's always difficult to work out how to class the Christmas special - is it episode 14 (now 13) of the preceding series or is it episode 0 of the next one. Some sources treat the specials as separate series in themselves. The Snowmen is especially confusing as it comes mid-series and S7 has multiple other specials as well.

In the RTD era it was easier to define the Christmas Special as it was episode 0, or X as they referred to it as. It was written and filmed as part of the following season, though shot on its own.

Of course Capaldi may regenerate at the very start of episode 1 of season 11. First scene could show the landind somewhere, Doctor steps out and trips over a brick and regenerates. :)

Gomes saying she doesn't know means absolutely nothing. Actors say what they're told to or allowed to, for the most part...

It'd be great if Capaldi lasted through season 11. Maybe then he'll get a decent series, as I genuinely don't expect series 10 to be anything wildly good (being Moffat at his end and all...)

If you're going to do a regeneration off of something stupid right in the beginning of an episode, why not copy the stupidest regeneration in Doctor Who? First, start with a shot of the 12th Doctor (from behind) in the console room. The TARDIS gets attacked, he falls and hits his head on the console and regenerates. You don't even need Capaldi there, just stick the next Doctor in 12's costume for the regeneration, and never show his face until he's done regenerating. Bonus points if the next Doctor is significantly shorter then Capaldi, and also needs to wear a wig pre-regeneration. It will hit that Classic Who nostalgia (if there is such a thing as negative nostalgia ), and gives the show a regeneration that's the complete opposite of any of the NuWho regenerations :rommie:

I saw Gomez at the London Comic Con on Saturday and whilst getting her autograph I chanced my arm.
"I don't suppose you can say if Missy's coming back or not."
"No I really can't." was the response.

The Christmas Special will be shot in Vancouver.

Doctor Who meets the CW's Superheroes? We know Greg Berlanti is a big fan...

More realistically it would allow them to bring back Captain Jack without taking Barrowman away from his day job for too long. (Hell, they could bring Rory back while they were at it.)

Just like the TV movie. There has to be a scene showing the TARDIS in that pine forest that was used in like every Stargate episode. On a more serious note, I wonder if we'll end up with any Vancouver actors who show up in every show or movie that films there.
