Isn't Discovery already profitable through syndication deals alone?
Yep!

Oh, me too. If it is a success, they might start planning other Trek shows, even ones set in ther eras (such as after Nemesis) and that way lies madness.
Much better if Discovery fails and there is no more Trek on TV...
You quoted me out of context. I said AND and then added a lot of qualifying text. In logic you cannot ignore the AND. Also there was no statement at all about me wanting DIS to fail. Granted I was not super precise, but does it take that much to get the jist of my whole post without cutting it up and assuming a completely different meaning?
I also prefaced it with a blurb about doing something to let management know that there are still fans that want something post NEM. Of course I want the show to do well, I just don't want the execs to misinterpret that success and never revisit the prime universe post NEM. I.e. make it like 90s Trek with 3 series all set concurrently and never go back to the future.

For the record, I'd prefer a post Nemesis show too, but I'd have preferred that to Enterprise too, and I ended up enjoying that, the last season especially.
The creative team for the new show looks more than promising and I'm looking forward to it immensely. What I'd have chosen, no. Enough to make me happy, yes.

Petition: Cancel Discovery And Greenlight Enterprise-C Series:
That's amazing! Too bad we already know how it ends![]()
Yeah, no suspense and tension there whatsoever!
In all seriousness though, the Lost Era between TUC and TNG would have been perfect for an anthology format TV series as we would have been able to see different ships and different crews: Enterprise-C, Excelsior, Enterprise-B, Stargazer, etc.

I don't know; The Stargazer was rather unremarkable. It was Picard's ticket to captaincy, and nothing much else.
Just popping into the thread to say that I too love Gravity Falls. One of the best animated shows I have ever seen. Still bummed it ended so soon and that there's no physical release yet.me too.![]()
Oh, I don't think so… she seems to have had her share of adventures:

Besides, that which we haven't seen/heard doesn't mean it didn't happen. Not only starships named Enterprise have had remarkable careers!![]()
Everything I've come across so far has made it pretty clear this won't be just TOS in 2017, and that will be very much Fuller's show. CBS would be stupid to hire somebody like Fuller and not let him do his own thing. Granted we've seen plenty of examples of Hollywood suits being pretty damn stupid, but I still like to try to give them the benefit of the doubt until I start seeing real evidence of stupidity, and so far I haven't.Me too. My initial thinking is that this whole thing was marketing driven. Make it the same era as TOS, make it a 2017 version of TOS, etc and not something that came from Fuller and team. Maybe I am just being cynical though and they were inspired by this "event" alone and wanted to go with it.
Yes I was disappointed to hear that Discovery will be set ten years before Kirk, and yes I want a post-Voyager series.
But no I won't jeopardise a new Star Trek series. After all, further down the line if Discovery is successful, then CBS (or even Netflix) could green-light a new post-Voyager series.
The giant round file.I know where that petition can go.
