Interesting info....I'm more into the far future (TNG/DS9/VOY eras and beyond) but I'll check it out.
You can't make it look and feel like TOS or else it would look completely outdated. Star Trek has always been reimagined. First with TMP, then with TWOK. It has to be updated or else it can't be taken seriously.I'm trying to give this series a chance, but throwing around words like "10 years before Kirk's mission" and "re imagined" make me less optimistic.
If this is set in the Star Trek era then it should look and feel like the Star Trek era. We shouldn't have more graphic scenes and character's saying, "oh shit!" If it doesn't flow with how the time period has already been depicted then it throws you out of the story, just like the remastered effects.

So perhaps there will be an appearance of my namesake?I stand by this being the focus of the first season:
In 2246, Kirk was living on the planet Tarsus IV during a food crisis that was starving the colony of eight thousand people. Governor Kodos, sympathetic to old eugenics philosophies, tried to save a portion of his colony by killing the four thousand colonists he deemed least desirable or able to survive. Kodos was unaware of the imminent arrival of relief ships. The thirteen-year-old Jim Kirk was one of only nine eyewitnesses to the massacre. (TOS: "The Conscience of the King")
- Ensign James T. Kirk is promoted to lieutenant. (TOS: "The Corbomite Maneuver")
It's the latter. Although who knows if it could be a situation where the Lt. Commander takes over as Captain like Picard had to do.So is the captain of the ship the Lt. Commander or is the story told from the POV of the Lt. Commander?

I'm very curious as to what he is referring to when he says that we've heard mention of this event or incident that is the basis of the series before. Especially since that era is not well traveled in canon form.
Fuller knows what he's doing, he's not going to run roughshod over important canon or anything. He's a huge ST fan. I don't believe he's going to do what Enterprise did with including unnecessary things like those decon scenes just because.
Well, he said he's creating his own Star Trek universe and will re-imagine things. So I guess technically it's not running roughshod since it's another universe like the new movies.
