News coming 8/10?

It's not impossible that Black Ops Section 31 could come into play at some point during the series. @StarTrekCBS #TCA16

Fuller: Spock's mother Amanda Grayson "maybe" will be featured in Discovery but will not be central. #TCA16

.@BryanFuller : We are not subject to broadcast standards & practices. Neither was #Hannibal and we got away with murder. #StarTrekDiscovery

Don't like it being a prequel especially in that era, but I already figured it would be a prequel. Just be good. I like the serialized but self-contained story in an episode route for Star Trek. I hope if it does well and there is a another show down the line they finally go to the "future."

One problem that will just annoy me is that they are going to have to (and it seems to be true with Fuller's comments) re-image the era with aliens that don't fit with TOS and technology looking very different so it doesn't look silly in 2017. You could avoid those issues more in pretty much any other era.

That second tweet suggests it's to do with Tarsus IV according to TrekCore's Twitter page.

@Memles Tarsus 4, where Kirk was almost massacred with thousands of colonists as a kid?

Hey-oooo

KSiteTV @KSiteTV
Does Amanda Grayson factor in to #StarTrekDiscovery? "Mayyyybe," @BryanFuller says. #TCA16

.@BryanFuller : "There's a reason it's called STD. It's not a nebula we're flying through; it's a cloudy discharge.” #StarTrekDiscovery

Is it rude of me to dance up and down with joy over the news I've read in here so far? Or do I have to at least sound like I'm complaining about something?

Honestly, I don't get it. Why are they willing to through half of the Trek lore out of the window? Why restrict yourself so hard that you can never ever use replicators, holodecks, the Borg, Ferengi, Cardassians, Bajorans, or literally anything that isn't in Enterprise without it being contrieved?

It's like, since 2001 the franchise has refused to move on, and instead tried to cling on the past every. single. iteration. we. got. since. then.

Anyway, this could be interesting. No Romulans. Klingons should have smooth foreheads, but I won't mind if they have ridges. Each ships should have distinct insignia, though.
