Rogue One (2016) [SW Anthology Series)

Honestly, I think Disney might have been a bit heavy-handed with Ant-Man. I found the stuff from the "outside MCU" like Avenger cameos and Hydra suddenly showing up for the climax were ham-fisted in and the movie might have worked better without them.

Right. And in hindsight, there was also the director for Thor 2 leaving at some point.
Indeed, Alan Taylor has gone on record to state that he was given complete freedom to make his Thor 2 film whilst out on shoot, but during post the film was completely reworked to the point he felt he lost any creative control.

I do find myself concerned here that Edwards is being managed in post and possibly even cut out of the post procedure all together. And to be replaced by Tony Gilroy, a strong writer, most noted for his dark political material, it seems at odds with Disney wanting to create a familiar tone with the remainder of the franchise. Gilroy's wheelhouse appears to be well in line with grittier, war-zone idea that Edwards was initially meant to be going for.

If they really wanted a hand to guide the project back to the mainstream and the "familiar" I thought they would hire someone like Brett Ratner, McG or John Turtletaub... all well known for towing the line and "getting it done", however unspectacular the results.

With Gilroy in the edit suite I still hold out hope for something interesting, even if it is sadly not 100% Edwards' vision.

Hugo - Never been sold on Edwards being a great "big" director, but some of the trailer footage is fascinating

Someone watching the Olympics saw an ad for a new Rogue One trailer coming this Thursday with the Olympics.

I just got on to post about that.
Issues with Marvel movies? I can't really recall anything huge going wrong there. Have I missed something??

I think he's referring to the situation with Ant-Man.

Right. And in hindsight, there was also the director for Thor 2 leaving at some point.
Yeah, I was talking about Ant-Man, Thor: The Dark World, and the fact Joss Whedon swore off ever working with Marvel again after they kept interfereing in Age of Ultron. Joss Whedon has backed off a bit on that lately, but I know he was pretty frustrated after AoU came out.

I'm curious as the the backstory of Jedha. The name and it's roll as a Mecca for force adherents suggest it played a significant part in the history of the Jedi and visa-versa. Were the Jedi named for this place or the other way around? Could it be to Ahch-To what Ossus was to Tython in the old EU? Was it where they took refuge when the ancient Sith Empire threw down the Old Republic and ruled the galaxy?

ETA apparently teasing trailers is still a thing. Why is that still a thing?
