The reason there are so many Humanoids in STAR TREK was actually spelled out in The Classic Series. I forget what they were called, right now - "The Protectors," maybe. They "seeded" Humanoids throughout the Galaxy, apparently. I believe this was established in the 3rd Season episode "The Paradise Syndrome," where Kirk becomes another character, entirely, called "Kirok," for most of the show. Somewhat reminiscent of Picard's becoming "Kaman" in "Inner Light," although Kirk's fantasy life was actually real.

Not quite. The race was called the Preservers. And their mission is spelled out in their name. They rescue endangered cultures by transplanting them to worlds were they will be safe from what's endangering them. Some what similar to what the Enterprise D crew tried to do on Boraal II.

Thank you, sir - yes, the TNG examples always work best . Still, having so many Humanoids in the Galaxy is problematic, regardless of who's responsible for it. They could've done such a credible, memorable job with the Delta Quadrant alien make-ups, but they didn't want to. I remember there was even a robot on VOY that had this Dollar $tore mask on, and sported a black hoody. Species 8472 was different, true, but that uniqueness was realised via the cheapest, shittiest-looking CGI rendering I've never wanted to look at. Made even more co$t-effective by the fact that they didn't need spacesuits, or even a toga, for that matter. I almost prefer a Human-centric Galaxy to such half-assed efforts, as these.

There is no logical (pardon the pun ) reason why there would be any less racial diversity on Vulcan than on Earth.

If anything, a race with such extreme temperatures in heat would probably have more darker skinned members instead of fewer

This is nothing. We had worse. There was a thread when ST09 was coming out, where folks were posting pictures of Nimoy and Quinto, with graphics and angles comparing their noses and all, as part of an argument about why Quinto shouldn't have been cast...

I know there were more WTF threads about minutiae details but we are running out of stuff to discuss in the Trek forums after all those years. That's why many posters tend to lurk and post in non-trek fora.

What would a hot climate have to do with it? Lions are blond....

As they are not Human, it is more than possible that the variation in skin color may be due to conditions that has nothing to do with climate or the intensity of the Vulcan sun. Also, what gives the skin that color may be due to other substance instead of melanin.

Don't go around saying a hot planet should have more black folks. That's a foolish thing to say and being ignorant of how genetics, genetic drift, and all that works. The odds is that when life evolved on Vulcan, nature found different way to protect the skin from their sun's rays.

No, but it's silly to say that a hot planet would necessarily have a heavily-pigmented inhabitants as a result of a need to have a way to ward off consequences one might get from the harmful rays of its sun.

And yes, Vulcans are a fictional alien race. Idle speculation are what we do here

That was the best part of Voyager. Race or gender was not what it was about. I hate it when any character is a profile or an agenda because it becomes about that not about what they're supposed to do. Some of those Original and Next Generation episodes just make you squirm with their heavy handed lessons. If it doesn't matter then why make it an issue. Voyager just got on with the story. Tuvok embodied everything Vulcan, you just didn't think about his underlying color or the race of the actor, you just thought.. Vulcan.

Most Vulcans probably look more Asiatic and African than European. Its the European looking ones that they demoted to work for the Federation lol Spock should look even paler than his 'full blood Vulcan' peers since he had a white mother.
