Question about General Martok (sort of)

It seemed odd though, that the fake Martok's statement about there being no honorable combat would be suspicious.

Everyone thought Gowron was a changeling at that point. What would be the point?

Even if Worf did formally challenge him, it's still a changeling. He (probably) couldn't be harmed with a Bathleth anyway, and would have easily escaped if it was exposed.

They would have lost their chance to remove the threat.

By the way, when a main character or high ranking one suggests a blood test or screening, that would be the one I would look at first lol.

They had setup a test to expose Changeling Gowron when they realized that Martok was the changeling after all. I can't remember what happened next.

As I said, that he was exposed because he did not understand a basic concept of klingon honor....

We don't know that he doesn't understand it. In fact, I think we know that he does, because he refers to honorable combat as if he knows it's the usual way, but doesn't want to do it that way. Why? Probably too messy, too uncertain... He understands Klingons but doesn't identify or agree with them. sometimes, such a superior-minded individual will look at custom or principle and just say "We don't have time for that." Poor judgment? Yes. But without bad judgment from scary, more powerful, threatening enemy races, they wouldn't lose.

They realized nothing. They were caught, and their test equipment was confiscated and destroyed. Ostensibly by the Gowron Changeling who didn't want to get caught - but in reality by the Martok Changeling who then conspired with the heroes, trying to make them attack and kill Gowron without having the chance to test him first. A Federation team murdering Gowron would then play into the hands of the Dominion.

The plan almost worked, but Odo began to suspect Martok and engaged him in a goo-to-goo fight, exposing him and prompting the Klingons to kill the fake Martok and exonerate the heroes. Odo's argument about honor played no role here: the Klingons never got to hear it. Odo's outright attacking of Martok is what decided the outcome.
