*Spoilers* U.S.S. Franklin Design?

I may have to pick this up because I doubt that one of the major chains will pick it up as their exclusive.

My local Walmart still has some of the Into Darkness special edition with the Vengeance model.
For some reason it wouldn't let me edit my original post.

Trekcore is reporting the Walmart exclusive will include a model of the Enterprise, the Franklin, and a swarm ship.

I wonder if those will be a reuse of the little cup-topper ship molds?

I didn't go back through this thread, but did anyone else notice the different registry number when Scotty is looking up Edison's record?

YES! I was wondering if someone else would mention that. I only saw it once but it looked like NCC-7XXX. Can't remember it exactly but it was definitely NCC, with 4-digits and a 7 in the thousands place.

Maybe a shout-out to other gaffes? :P

Am I the only one who sees the bridge module outline of the Enteprise-D in the top of the Franklin? Also didn't realize the Franklin's saucer was an oval...

THANK YOU! I thought I was nuts! I think it was NCC-7326 or NCC-7327, something like that. Wait: if it was NCC-7326, then part of that number is a huge call out to Nimoy! His birthday was March 26!

Federation records could have re-designated the Franklin after she crashed, perhaps. She's early Federation... so like our modern-day USS Constitution, she was redesignated retroactively.

^ not the most farfetched explanation I've ever heard personally. The Prometheus had two registration numbers.

Since the Franklin is described as
The first Warp 4 ship, sounds like it predates the NX01. But I can see it still being in service during the Xindi and Romulan Wars.

TrekCore confirmed with someone from the Beyond production crew that the Franklin's registry is indeed a reference to Nimoy's birthday.

Here's a photo of the model from comic con.

edit: one more

Those sneaky QMX nerds changed the bussards to orange.

So in the movie, if I heard correctly,
they said the Franklin was the first ship to travel Warp 4. However, being NX-326 it obviously came after the NX-01, which was the first ship to travel Warp 5. Did I hear that incorrectly in the movie? The bridge looks more closer to a TOS era bridge than an ENT bridge, so it makes sense it would be a ship after the NX-01.

Could still make sense if it's a pre-federation ship that got refit & re-commissioned later.

Any ideas when the QMx model might be out, and the possible price range?

QMX trek models generally go for $3000 to $10000. So if you have any money after buying your 5th mansion, be sure to get one.

Nope, but I'm glad the classic Star Trek practice of reusing props and set dressings continues!
