HUGE Mr Sulu Spoiler

My kids (well, 50% of them - the other 50% are with a grandparent for the week) came with me to see Beyond. They both seem happy that Sulu got to see his family and oblivious to the issues people might have with it.

For all the shitty things said online, it makes me very happy to see how little they give a crap.

Yeah, I guess three seconds are way too much screen time for a new character ...

But you would have people saying the character was created for that purpose only. If they had created a new character, you would have been complaining about that as well, I'd bet.

It is classic misdirection. "I'm not against 'X', just 'X' like this." Kinda disgusting actually.

Sulu's partner was in at least three different scenes, IIRC.
Well, that's only because Sulu was sleeping with the writer.

(Doug Jung plays Sulu's partner.)

Wouldn't that be Lieutenant Hawk?
That Hawk was intended to be gay was only ever a "virtual" rumour, but it was a rumour cleverly reclaimed by Michael A Martin and Andy Mangels for their "First Contact" prequel novel, "Section 31: Rogue".

I've seen what happened to practically every 'new', speaking character in BEY that was not named 'Jaylah.'

Which is how I also know exactly why the writers decided that, if they were going to introduce at least a recurring gay character, it really needed to be a member of the main crew.

If Spock was gay, deep down where he didn't look, that would come out during Pon Far.

So five days later when he's finally come to, Uhura is stamping her foot really super pissed at her boyfriend, saying "I understand that it's a biological imperative, and you couldn't help yourself, but Spock, that's not how you make babies."

You know there's a massive about of gay Pon Far stories out there - nearly all about Kirk and Spock, of course.

What the fuck have you guys been talking about for the last 66 pages?

The man likes cock, that's it, what seems to be the issue here?
