Some of MY favorite things:

- A seriously large New York City deli sandwich.

- An exciting baseball game, watched live of course. The crack of the bat, the roar of the crowd, the smell of the food...you can't go wrong with that.

- My collection of payment cards from various mass transit systems around the world (don't laugh).

- Not exactly "my" thing, as such, but...when I look up at a flight monitor at the airport and I see that my flight is on time. :adore:

- The stuffed Pikachu dolls that I found at my store and subsequently adopted.

- Breakfast.

As for The Sound of Music, I prefer the Southern version (as told by Jeff Foxworthy):

Doe, a deer I shot last month
Ray, a guy who pumps my gas
Me and him got in a fight
Fa is where I kicked his ass...

There you go, trekkiedane, all fixed.

If you're using Firefox, you might want to use the Copy Plain Text 2 add-on, because it removes the text formatting when you copy/paste something.

^Thank you so very much, I'm on Chrome on ipad and I have no idea why I buggered up the formatting when I copypastaed from a notebook and then tried to 'bullet point' a couple of things!

As I said: Thanks!

I'd like to add something to my list: A good night's sleep.

Seriously.

I am the world's lightest sleeper - the slightest noise will wake me up, or prevent me from ever getting to sleep in the first place. @thestrangequark mentioned the downpour of rain outside the window? If that happens around my house, I have to go downstairs and sleep on my couch (my basement is more insulated from outside noise than my bedroom is) because the rain would otherwise keep me awake.

And don't even get me started on crickets. :scream:

So I have found that a good, restful night's sleep is a rare and VERY valuable thing - definitely something to be treasured. And when I get that kind of sleep, it is definitely one of my favorite things.

same here. Last November I got myself custom-made silicone earplugs. The best investment of all my life! They cut off about 50 db from the complete frequency spectrum. It's utter bliss!
I strongly recommend you get some. Prices range from 100$ to about 130$ in my country. They might be cheaper in yours. At any rate it's worth it =)

Kitties!!! Okay, doggies too.

Almond Ice Cream
