Game Of Thrones Season 6 Discussion (Spoilers)

Which individuals?

I don't have details about specific individuals involved with Game of Thrones who may have been involved in the creation of that chart, I just know that it came directly from both the network and the show (since it was released on an official blog associated with the show and the network, Making Game of Thrones), so my comment was more general in nature than you apparently took it to be.

^^
Yeah, somehow I don't think a potential reveal that Jon Snow is the legitimate heir to the throne would come by way of a chart.

Would you have thought that the revelation/confirmation that Jon is Rhaegar's son would've come via a chart?

Because "The Winds of Winter" itself only expressly revealed the identity of Jon's MOTHER, and several places that covered the episode were speculating about the showrunners possibly holding off the confirmation of Jon's FATHER for the next season.

Anyone else hear about the theory posited by a lip-reading Redditor that Jon's true name is Jaehaerys? The original Reddit thread discussing the theory can be found here.

Here is the link to the YouTube video she links to in her post.

And here is a GIF from the scene with Lyanna whispering to Ned. If you watch her lips closely it does look like she's saying "His name is..." followed by a three-syllable word that could be Jaehaerys.

If this is true, it makes sense to me that Rhaegar would wish to name his son after his grandfather, Jaehaerys II, as well as Jaehaerys I the Wise, one of the better Targaryen kings.

EDIT: And someone else believes that what she's actually saying isn't "His name is Jaehaerys," but "His name and his house..." So if that's what was actually said, perhaps that implies Jon is trueborn after all. Hopefully we'll learn more details next season.

<<With all of the talk about Jon's claim to the Iron Throne because of his supposed parentage, I'm left wondering one simple fact: How does he prove it once he finds out?>>
Maybe Sam will find the proof in a book in the Citadel. I'd been wondering what the point of that storyline was...

Ser Maury of House Povitch.

Howland Reed, Meera's dad [the one who stabbed Dayne in the back and saved Ned's ass], is still alive, and he presumably knows...

As I said previously, the artist given the task could be mistaken, having used self-fulfilling popular belief as a guide. I'm pointing out that assumptions can sometimes be misleading. For all we know, unless we are given the specific artist and their connection to the show, HBO got something from a fan that they liked and posted it. Yes, it's a reach, but I only trust primary sources. Until then, my mind is as open as the Tower of Joy scene remains vague. Writers do that for a reason - so they can change directions or provide a shocking twist later if they see an opportunity.

I'm sure Bran will eventually listen more closely to Lyanna for the audience at just the right time.

I read that it's possible that Rhaegar's dad could be Jon's dad. Parental privilege, you know. Make sure the girl is good enough for his son.

In the new seasons ahead, i hope Bran has more visions so that we could see how Rhaegar was like. He is Dany's brother and Jon's father. I would love to see how he reacted to the Mad King's Behaviour and his final battle with Robert Baratheon.

According to Ser Barristan, Rhaegar was a decent man.

It seems like just about everyone who actually knew Rhaegar only had good things to say about him, except for Robert.

There has to be some big reason that Sam is there, whether it's down to Jon's parentage or a way to defeat, or at least battle, the White Walkers.

Which I covered in my post that initiated this conversation.

I hope for that as well. We've seen so much of other people's side of the story that it would be good to see his side of it. Not much else left for Bran to do at this point anyways.

Perhaps, but does Westeros have an equivalent of birth certificates? I don't recall from the books.

May Sam will discover a vault full of Valyrian Steel or Dragonglass swords in the Citadel, or at least the location of said vault.

I was thinking about Valyrian Steel and why it can kill White Walkers and why the techniques for making have been lost. I imagine that the techniques haven't been lost but the process for making them have been removed. That the Steel used is just regular Steel but forged with Dragon Fire. Without any Dragons, you can't make Valyrian Steel. Now that Dragons have returned, the ability to make Valyrian type weapons may be able to return as well.

I thought that had already been confirmed somewhere. But maybe it was just my imagination inventing confirmation for something that seemed so obvious.

The Making Game of Thrones blog and the official Game of Thrones Twitter account ARE "primary sources", so at this point you're just living in denial.
They're marketing and PR hearsay. Primary sources would be words written or recordings made of Martin or the showrunners/writers speaking.
