Spin master has started sending out Enterprise-A's for review. Saw this on youtube this morning.

Neat. The proportions seem more like the Beyond Enterprise than the 1701-A, though...

Certain concessions to the model no doubt had to be made to make it viable for flying. Although Spin Master has said that from its own internal research they only expect 20% of them to ever be flown, the remai in 80% will be displayed / collected.

Personally, I'm going to fly the hell out if mine.

It's the easy way of designating and merchandising the "movie refit" ship these days. Most fans are familiar with the A B C D E designations, and it avoids any confusion as to the three different versions of "1701" or "Kirk's" Enterprise possible. Stuff like model kits or high end adult collectables will be more specific, as the hard core fans both know and look for the differences. But figure for regular retail consumer products they will likely use the A designation for any offered versions of the refit.

Different timeline, I'd be for giving Kirk a different command. Then reunite him with a new Enterprise later in the series.

That's actually a pretty good idea.

There's some good story potential to be mined there.

More reviews being added to youtube, try searching air hogs enterprise or enterprise quadcopter or similar terms if you want to find them.

I suppose it wouldn't be that hard to swap out the rear section and release a nuEnterprise down the line, since the saucer sections look pretty similar.

I always thought the patches were embroidered, not silk screen printed.

I think the patch in question was silk screened for the actual prop, so Anovos is replicating that.

I imagine so, just a change that was surprising.

Could be the costume designer thought an embossed, 3D silk-screened patch looked more "futuristic" than an embroidered one.

Probably so. Durability isn't a factor when its a collectible that will be under glass anyway.

If it wasn't so costly--I'd like to take it apart and do kitbashes.

Back when I was a kid, I think for my 5th birthday? I got a throwable styrofoam Enterprise D. Held up better than the real thing did.
