Game Of Thrones Season 6 Discussion (Spoilers)

The season finale was very good, though I still enjoyed the Battle of the Bastards more. Not overly concerned about the opening bloodbath, aside from Margaery biting the big one, shame but Natalie Dormer does seem to have been side-lined (but that may be because she has work elsewhere) I wonder what her actual scheme was?

This will only play to a few posters but as a Blakes 7 fan I can't believe it's taken me this long to realise Cersai is Servalan! The short hair, the utter ruthlessness, wearing black once all her kids were dead...and she's just become President of the Federation! ;) plus Jamie is obviously Travis (what with the artificial hand and all!) This makes Dany Blake and obviously Tyrion is Avon (albeit an Avon who actually believes in Blake!)

Jon's not a perfect fit for Tarrant but it'll have to do, Hodor is clearly Gan (and even dies the same way) and I need to give the others some thought, though it is tempting to see Arya as Vila (if only because they're both sneaky).

My first thought when I saw Cersei sitting on the Iron Throne with the short cropped blond hair and the arrogant, cruel smirk on her face was how much she reminded me of Joffrey.

...
Natalie Dormer actually wanted to leave the show even earlier to work on other projects:

He sounds like me when I'm writing. I usually plan the big moments years in advance. However, It is only when I actually sit down and start writing that I try to figure out how to connect one big moment to the next. Usually I start with whatever idea strikes my fancy, and if halfway though I get a better idea, I'll put what I've currently written aside and test the new idea. Needless to say, it takes a long time for me to complete a project.

Hell, I'm going on 30 years with some of my trek fanifcs. ;)

For those who aren't convinced the show has confirmed R+L=J, HBO has released this graphic.

Martin doesn't have outlines. He mentioned in an interview years ago (around the time Robert Jordan died) that should the worst befall him there is no way anyone else could finish the series in his stead because there isn't anything like that for them to work from. He just writes in scattershot and then redrafts over and over until everything fits together right.
I stand corrected. As others have already said, it's no wonder he takes so long.

Heh, that works reasonably well, I suppose, except Arya as Villa. Vila's defining traits were his cowardice, wit, and alcoholism. Arya has a little bit of wit but certainly not the rest.

Hell, even the Servalan parallel isn't that strong because Cersei might be cunning, but she's a fool. Servalan was never foolish.

Not good enough until Martin himself or the writers say so. Game of Thrones is on HBO, but HBO is not Game of Thrones. The artist given the task could be mistaken, having used self-fulfilling popular belief as a guide. That's why primary sources are important.

Related question: How was Jon's hand injured as he fought off the zombie attack at Castle Black in the Commander's quarters - Season 1 Episode 8?

this is a tricky one. Martin said Danny surviving the Funeral Pyre was a one time magical event caused by the birth of the Dragons, and she isn't actually fireproof. The showrunners seem to be going with the idea that she is fireproof. We know Danny's brother wasn't fireproof, so not all Targaryans are.

Plenty of blonde babies change hair color during childhood. I know. I was a towhead until I was seven. Now I have dark brown hair.
But for TV purposes it would have really made it clear to the audience especially because it fades from the baby's face to Jon. Throw in a goatee beard and i'm sold.

Transition shot from shot to Jon with the exact same framing made it pretty clear. I think audiences are smart enough to know children's hair can change colors while growing up.

I think you're not really thinking this through enough, the baby was clearly Daenerys!

It's comfirmed, come on. The baby looked like they wrapped Kit Harington in a blanket and de-aged him. The dialog in that scene, the editing, it's really obvious.
Who is that baby supposed to be if not Jon and who is the father supposed to be if not Rhaegar?

Yeah. Fact is that Martin is 1. Very fat 2. Close to 70 3. Takes years to write a one book (+5?) so yep, it's most likely he bites the dust before the job is done.

Yeah, I remember reading that article where he says he was offended people were discussing the issue. But was anyone really discussing it before Robert Jordan died?
