ok I think you meant to quote me in your post.
It is the worst possible ending for Walter and Nichelles last project together to be treated like this. I dont totally disagree with the stunt casting comment, there is one cast member on the project, who no fan ever asked for. I dont mind them as much the Jazdia situation was going to be odd as well. However I am more open to seeing the returning cast than I expect you are, and this is Renegades, reusing the series actors is what makes it different from other fan films. Now if Continues suddenly wrote an episode where the crew were visited by Doctor Bashir (or some other random) then yeah that is stunt casting at its worst, it goes totally against what they are, that is not the case with Renegades.
Renegades are posting photos on Twitter. It looks like the mostly greenscreen bridge of a Federation ship, and someone in a Starfleet uniform. No insignia on the uniform, and I suspect the CG set will be modified from whatever was planned to look less Trekkish.

I agree with some of the others about a huge appeal of this project being seeing a lot of these actors portraying their characters for quite likely the last time. I'm sure I'll still watch it either way but it takes a good bit of the excitement out of it for me.
I hope Renegades at least approached/approaches CBS before they get too far into it to make sure there are no other options.

I wish they had time to film it twice, one as a Trek version just in case things get sorted out later. Seeing Nichols and Koenig ready to go for one last outing, yet having to change it all at the last second, is really disheartening.

there is a small win here, but a VERY small one. Casting Terry Farrell as Jazdia again was always going to risk a bit of a plot hole, now she is playing Jada, that actually helps. Same for Hana Hatae (Molly O'Brien) with all due respect to her, I dont think anyone ever thought "you know what fanfilm I really want to see, one about Molly O'Brien, her story is the most interesting one in all of Star Trek for me, whats that William Shatner wants to be in our fan film, tell him no, this is the Molly O'Brien series, Captain Kirk would only get in the way.
Oliver Koenig as Young Pavel, tells us that "the Admiral" is still called Pavel.
So did they just have these uniforms ready to roll just in case, or....?

)I know they had redone the uniforms for Requiem, as the last ones where not well received. It doesnt even look like they have tweaked them that much, that is I suppose the benefit of it being set in a part of the shows timeline, that had not been used.So did they just have these uniforms ready to roll just in case, or....?

As for the heritage of Kovok, this is where its going to start to fall apart / be like watching Star Trek if you were high.
I'm hoping the stuff filmed on Wednesday will see the light of day as a Trek piece - Chekov, Uhura, Tuvok and Jake!

May I say publically that the production photos have competely restored my faith in the project as I was unsure about the reborn - for legal reasons things have changed but everything looks the same otherwise - the actors are playing the same roles they were going to before Thursday - the Admiral still looks like Chekov, Ens O'Reilly - well that's obvious; all the roles are the same, the starship bridge looks like a starship bridge with changes and the uniforms are still the same.
To explain Doctor Who took a 16 year hiatus in 1989. In 1992, a series of independent videos were released starring Colin Baker as 'the Stranger' not the Doctor with Nicola Bryant as his companion. You could put the Doctor Who theme on and be none the wiser; The spirit was still there. BBV also walked a fine by releasing an audio series starring Sylvester McCoy and Sophie Aldred as 'the Professor' and 'Ace'
It's the same with Renegades - the only thing that seems lost is Chakotay's tattoo (saving Robert an extra hour in make up!) - things have had to be juggled about but its all still there.
Bring it on and well done!!

And looks like no spots on Terry. Aron Eisenberg has a new prosthetic. (But seems to still be wearing Nog teeth.)
Notable and inevitable exceptions. I think they may just get away with keeping Kovok looking like Tuvok.

That would be a good idea, although wasteful of time. Get the Trek version in the can for later.
Not well done. It's creatively bankrupt to file off the serial numbers in a way that is done purely to avoid legal entanglements but is obvious to all concerned what it is it's supposed to represent.
In fact in the Axanar threads people were mocking in advance the prospect of Alec filing off the serial numbers for Axanar, posting pictures of bootleg Trek action-figures like this:

Now it's a low budget series of science fiction adventures with familiar faces in roles somewhat reminiscent of their famous STAR TREK Roles
I think it's a great idea. The archetype of the characters have existed in Science Fiction long before Gene Roddenberry wrote the first treatment in 1964 and CBS can't do a thing about it
Aliens with Pointed Ears, A Space/Planet version of The United Nations (Which the Federation is), Assorted Alien Types, Space Ships that are fast than light,etc.
CBS got what they wanted - one less fan film, but now it's a web series that technically is competition to All-Access. Fans will support it for what it is,even if it's not Trek anymore for who's in it and the quality of the material.
