CARETAKER - Meet the Doctor for the first time in your life ...

Une citation a valeur universelle (désolé, je ne trouve pas d'accent grave sur mon clavier). Tres expressive, tres belle.
Tu regardes VOYAGER aussi en francais? Comment est-ce qu'on dit "Please state the nature of the medical emergency"?:biggrin::biggrin:

But I don't want to alienate the others so I'll switch back on English. Occasionally, though, you could give me the translation of some famous VOY quotations in French - i.e. if you like.
Kilana2, you could also give me the German equivalent if that's all right by you.
In exchange, I could give you all the Hungarian translations - although I seriously doubt that anyone would be interested.

Oui, je regarde Voyager en français and The Doctor is called here "Hologramme Médical d'Urgence" (HMU) / Emergency Medical Hologram (EMH)
And "Please state the nature of the medical emergency"? = Merci de bien vouloir exposez la nature de votre urgence médicale" ;)

In France, Star Strek: Voyager DVD boxes allow viewers to watch episodes in 8 foreign languages. :techman:

Both pieces of information sound lovely,!
In Hungary, Star Trek has never been released on DVD (or on any other data storage device, for that matter). This is a relatively small country and there are relatively few people here who are interested in ST so I guess it wouldn't be worth it for the releasing company. It's a shame really - but that's the way the cookie crumbles, I'm afraid. I wish it were different - I'd be the first one to buy Voyager on original DVD. All we're left with is pirated copies.
Any chance that the French DVDs contain the Hungarian soundtrack? Probably not ...

No, not in dubbling but I'm pretty sure to have seen hungarian subtitles proposed.:)

I remember Téa once pointing out to me, with glee, how Kes' wig went from making that pretty pixie look like a mushroom head ... to looking like a Cocker Spaniel. I'm noticing in your latest offering, though, Thomas, how it looked just fine, in profile. Outside of the wig being "fuller," however, I never really saw any other real need to use it, over her real hair - especially since they went longer with it, anyway! Which version of Kes do you prefer, sir: short or long?

Hello, 2TF, thanks for the like.
As far as I know, Jennifer Lien developed an allergy to the glue that held her elf-like ears that's why TPTB decided to change the wig and give her long hair. Which is funny because her real hair was long in the first place, anyway.
I don't know, though if there ever was an in-story explanation for the hair change. I don't recall one.
As for me, I prefer Kes with short hair. Not at the beginning of the show, though: there's something wrong with that wig, especially in PARALLAX, which I can't really pinpoint what it is - but thank God, it had changed by the end of the first few episodes, and for the better, IMHO.
I guess I prefer her with short hair because for me that long hair was somehow not in accordance with the innocence and (to a certain extent) endearing naiveté that Kes had stood for during most of the time of the show.
However, watching the series for the 34th time, I must say I've got used to her long hair as well and I think it suits her just fine. Having seen the show so many times also means that whenever I see her with that long hair for the first time in BEFORE AND AFTER, I know that her time in the show is nearing to the end and in this sense her long hair has become the symbol of a forthcoming unfortunate event for me.
I've never thought about what her long hair looks like in profile but now that you mention it, I think it looks very pretty (she's definitely much more appealing in the above wallpaper than Seven ... :D). I know that a lot of people don't like THE GIFT, and I can't say I'm not heartbroken at least a little every time I see her leave the show. However, over the years I've got so used to it that I think THE GIFT was a beautiful way of making her exit the show. At least she wasn't killed off and gave Voyager a wonderful gift. In addition, the episode also suggested that she'd find a better way of existence and that message was also reassuring.
It's a pity FURY ruined all that.
Kes will soon come in one of my pictures in the series of wallpapers which you liked with B'Elanna. However, for today here's Janeway and Chakotay for all the J/C shippers in my next post.

I guess I must have mentioned earlier that red and blue is my favourite combination of all the colours. I practically have at least one red and blue wallpaper for each episode that I've ever made wallpapers for - and of course, SCIENTIFIC METHOD is no exception. So here it goes - I hope you guys will like it:

I was actually able to follow that. I can read French a lot better than I can speak it.

I was actually following that. I can read French a lot better than I can speak it for some reason.
Well this is how foreign languages work. Productive skills (speaking and writing) are always more difficult than receptive ones (listening and reading). Actually, this is also true of one's mother tongue.
Mind you, in English listening is at least as difficult as everything else. I've never met anyone from Britain or the US who didn't have an accent. And that's tough for a foreigner ... :weep:
:lol::lol::lol:
I wonder how the universal translator handles dialects and accents. Although if it really is universal, it should do well with those two, too. But then, sometimes it just malfunctions - like in NOTHING HUMAN.

PERSISTENCE OF VISION

My second favorite episode after "Cold Fire".
However, I still don't understand why Janeway did choose such a bland holodeck adventure.
Unless it actually was a horror adventure with Lord Burleigh in some sinister role.
