Star Trek Voyager Desktop Wallpapers

Hello, 2TF, thanks for the like.
As far as I know, Jennifer Lien developed an allergy to the glue that held her elf-like ears that's why TPTB decided to change the wig and give her long hair. Which is funny because her real hair was long in the first place, anyway.
I don't know, though if there ever was an in-story explanation for the hair change. I don't recall one.
As for me, I prefer Kes with short hair. Not at the beginning of the show, though: there's something wrong with that wig, especially in PARALLAX, which I can't really pinpoint what it is - but thank God, it had changed by the end of the first few episodes, and for the better, IMHO.
I guess I prefer her with short hair because for me that long hair was somehow not in accordance with the innocence and (to a certain extent) endearing naiveté that Kes had stood for during most of the time of the show.
However, watching the series for the 34th time, I must say I've got used to her long hair as well and I think it suits her just fine. Having seen the show so many times also means that whenever I see her with that long hair for the first time in BEFORE AND AFTER, I know that her time in the show is nearing to the end and in this sense her long hair has become the symbol of a forthcoming unfortunate event for me.
I've never thought about what her long hair looks like in profile but now that you mention it, I think it looks very pretty (she's definitely much more appealing in the above wallpaper than Seven ... :D). I know that a lot of people don't like THE GIFT, and I can't say I'm not heartbroken at least a little every time I see her leave the show. However, over the years I've got so used to it that I think THE GIFT was a beautiful way of making her exit the show. At least she wasn't killed off and gave Voyager a wonderful gift. In addition, the episode also suggested that she'd find a better way of existence and that message was also reassuring.
It's a pity FURY ruined all that.
Kes will soon come in one of my pictures in the series of wallpapers which you liked with B'Elanna. However, for today here's Janeway and Chakotay for all the J/C shippers in my next post.

That's right. She got allergic problems and therefore they decidet that she could have long hair instead so she didn't have to wear the Ocampa ears.

I did read somewhere that her long hair was a wig too but I haven't got it confirmed in any official article.

Her change of hairstyle was never explained in any way in the series. When I first watched "Before And After" I thought that her long hair was because of the scenario in that episode. Therefore I was surprised when she had long hair in the following episodes too.

However, I like her better in short hair because it personifies the character and ade her unique in some way. With the long hair, she looks just like any Starfleet character, although she did look great in long hair too.

Her early hairstyle in the first Voyager episodes were great too but it became even better in "The Cloud" in which it had changed to the more recognizible Kes style.

As for "The Gift", no I can't stand that episode.

There is only one Star Trek episode which is worse.

My second favorite episode after "Cold Fire".
However, I still don't understand why Janeway did choose such a bland holodeck adventure.
Unless it actually was a horror adventure with Lord Burleigh in some sinister role.
You don't? I do. Just like Janeway, I love 19th century English novels. If I had been in her place, I might have chosen the same thing. Jane Eyre is fun - one of the best novels I've read in my life - and that holodeck programme is strongly reminiscent of that novel.
So a good choice in my book. Closely followed by the Leonardo da Vinci programme.
However, I like her better in short hair because it personifies the character and ade her unique in some way.
Agreed. Like I said a few posts earlier, I also prefer her with short hair.
As for "The Gift", no I can't stand that episode.
As an avid Kes fan, your frustration is completely understandable.
However, like I said this before, if she had to go, then this was a relatively painless way of sending her off. At least she didn't get killed off or any of that nonsense. Her gift to the Voyager crew was elevating, I thought.

BTW, I've wanted to ask you this: how did you manage to get attached to the Kes character so much? Was it love at first sight, so to speak? I mean, did you just start watching CARETAKER and by the end of the episode you were completely enamoured with her? Or did this love develop over a few episodes, maybe even seasons?
As for me, my love of Janeway happened gradually - but then, it was never a case of seeing Voyager from the beginning to the end for me. The first episode I saw was ONE (Season 4) and then I saw episodes here and there. Slowly but surely the fact that I really liked this show started to take shape. So by the time I got to watching it from CARETAKER to ENDGAME, I'd known I was a Janeway fan. And to this day I still am,!
As for my falling in love with Tom ... that was a bit of a longer process. It must have happened on the fifth or sixth watching when the realization that this was exactly the type of guy I was looking for suddenly struck.
Since then, the galaxy hasn't produced anyone like him ... And it's one thing I've never found anyone similar to him in real life. What is more amazing is that I've never found anyone like him in the realm of fiction, either! :luvlove::luvlove::luvlove:

That is, unfortunately, true to the last letter. FURY is horrible, it's the only VOY episode I hate. There are a few that bore me, esp. the end of Season 6 was a pretty meh ... THE HAUNTING OF DECK TWELVE, MUSE, LIVE FAST AND PROSPER ... yawn.
But at least, they were acceptable Voyager episodes. FURY was an insult.
Of course, since I love the whole of Voyager, I thought that Season 7 more than made up for the weaker episodes of the previous season. Season Seven was very good, I love all the episodes, albeit ENDGAME is a bit ... questionable.

And then, there's the relaunch books ... My feelings are pretty ambivalent concerning those.
The stories are quite interesting ... but I think the essence of Voyager gets lost among them ...:wah:

Thank you, Lynx! Kes was beautiful, beyond compare, because of Jennifer Lien ... but no thanks to that terrible wig she started off with! And I agree that the short hair definitely flattered her, especially when they gave the wig a sort of whispy haircut, if you like. I can't think of the word for it. But Jennifer definitely had those elfish, pixie-like qualities that describe the Kes character, in plenty. The long-haired wig did not match the cute elfen outfits she wore, so they went with the catsuit, that came out of nowhere. After all of the injustices visited upon Jennifer Lien, during her time with Voyager, one would expect her to have been very bitter, but she was not. Always very gracious and charming and a very sweet presence. Unfortunately for me, I seem to be attracted to these vain, self-indulgent women. Where are the sweet ones ... only on the television shows of yesterday? I am beginning to wonder ... in iether case, Thomas has done right by Kes, with his latest offering. Nicely done! But I'm still not over the 3 Janeway wallpaper ... that one had a quality all of its very own - one not easily duplicated.

Finally! The Doctor again. I'm happy that he will be on one of the next German Voyager novels.
Thanks for the like. Are you talking about one of the relaunch novels? I still haven't started the next one (the last one I read was The Eternal Tide). Instead, I keep watching the show ... I simply can't get enough of Voyager ... :rommie::rommie:Today I watched ONE and HOPE AND FEAR. I love both episodes! Plus I saw DS9's THE ALTERNATE.
And I also made a wallpaper for TIMELESS. Two more to go and I can start sharing my TIMELESS wallpapers! :)

Yes. But it is called "Bewahrer" and due to be released in October.

I have nothing against 19th century English novels. I was just surprised that janeway would take the role of a housemaid to that creepy Lord Burleigh. I could rather imagine that she would have liked to be owner of the house or Queen of England or something like that.

As for Kes, well I guess you could call it "love at first sight" or whatever. First of all, she looked like someone I used to know once and obviously haven't forgotten. :(

Then it was the way she told Neelix that they should help finding Kim and Torres.
"KES: Neelix, these people rescued me.
NEELIX: I rescued you.
KES: With their help. It would be wrong not to help them now."

And then it was her speech to Toscat in the Ocampa garden!

As I thought then: "She's not only beautiful, she is strong-willed and brave too!"

And it went on from that. Episodes like "Persistence Of Vision", "Cold Fire", "Warlord" and "The Swarm" simply confirmed my opinions about the character.

But I must also state that I took an immediate liking to all the Voyager characters while watching "Caretaker" the first time and it was the3 first time I've been starting to watch a series and immediately liked all the characters. The only one after that is NCIS, a series I still follow and really like.

The only Voyager character I did have some problems with in "Caretaker" was The Doctor. The idea of a living, breathing (?) holographic medical expert was a bit over the top for me and he was mostly complaining over no one shutting off his program. But that changed already in "Parallax" where he showed more substance and definitely in "Time And Again". The conversation he has with Nelix and Kes in sickbay really introduced me to his sense of humor which I really like:
"EMH: Another crew. That's nice. This is the Emergency Medical Holographic system to Captain Janeway.
NEELIX: She's not on board. She's missing on the surface of a planet.
EMH: Missing. The Captain is missing. It seems I've found myself on the Voyage of the Damned. Very well. Please advise the highest ranking officer who is not missing, to see me at his earliest convenience. You may shut off my programme now."

I really loved the comment about "Voyage of the Damned". Hilarious!

As for the Relaunch Books, there are simply too many great characters missing.

Quelle belle bête, tout-de-même!!! :techman:

Love the design of Voyager. :)
Bete? Elle ressemble á un poisson ... ou á une raie dans l'espace ... n'est-ce pas?

And yes, it is a beautiful ship. Graceful and neat with a sleek design ... and an excellent crew.
Because after all, it's the characters and the stories that make Voyager the (one and only) Voyager.

The expression used is a very familiar one. "bête" has 2 meanings: 1) il est bête! = what an idiot! 2) quelle belle bête to speak about an animal and/or a significant item like a car, a boat and even sometime for someone who will be all muscle but well... I don't like this way to compare an animal to a human being!

I consider that Voyager is as important as the crew -> the vessel used to protect the crew and the crew used to take care of the vessel for 7 years.
They owe one to another so much! :techman:

And yes, you're right, The Voyager looked like a catfish, a brill
