Power Rangers

I'm already in the middle of watching two other shows - Sleepy Hollow and Falling Skies - but decided on a whim to rewatch Megaforce. I'm six episodes in right now, and although I'm finding myself bugged by some presentational elements (the intro narration, punny dialogue, and the victory catchphrase) that I didn't have issues with the first time I watched the season, the positives - the modern MMPR feel, the characters, suit designs, villains, the theme song, and the overall pacing - are more than enough to keep me engaged and entertained.

Have they mentioned who the target audience is? Are they going for the prepubescent crowd or for teens or people who grew up with the show who are a bit older now? It'd be nice if they made something kids would like but is a little less cringeworthy for older people. I've sampled the show from time to time and it's just too annoying for me to watch regularly.

It varies with the season, and with who's producing it. The current Dino Charge/Dino Super Charge series is a fairly good one, an improvement over the previous two series/four seasons, which were much more crudely and lazily done. And before those was Power Rangers RPM, by far the most brilliant season of the franchise -- like the gritty Moore-Galactica-style reboot, darker in approach and deconstructing the franchise's tropes, but also by far the funniest season. The years that Judd Lynn was producing, particularly the run from Power Rangers in Space to Time Force, were also a high point. (He's back producing the current season, although he goes by Chip Lynn these days.)

Ah, a Power Rangers thread! I'm also a Power Rangers fan as well and have been watching Power Rangers since when MMPR first started. I was 15 when it started and never stopped watching PR. I also like Super Sentai (didn't know that Power Rangers came from Super Sentai not until we got Zeo).

Honestly, as someone who still enjoys the TV show (at least the older seasons, before nickelodeon got involved) and has a lot of love for the (admittedly not great) first two movies, I'm sure I'll like this to some degree no matter what its actual quality. I think it could go either way at this point, but I'm hopeful.

I'm not sure what to think yet. It definitely has a lot of potential, but I haven't seen enough, and I don't know enough about the people involved to know if I should be worried or excited.
EDIT:
We've now got our first picture from an actual scene. It shows part of a fight between Trini and Rita and the EW article that goes along with the picture also has an interview with Trini actress Becky G about filming the scene.
Did they ever do an actual one on one fight between Rita and one of the Rangers during the original series?

I like it. I'm still skeptical, but I'm starting to become a bit more optimistic with each thing we see. The next big deciding factor for me will be the first trailer.

That picture's pretty cool. The armor looks fine (outside of the chest plate on yellow, which just doesn't fit well in my opinion). Its not going to surpass the original costumes as the design I like the best, but its generally fine. I'm also fine with them going with the face plate moving to show their faces instead of having them remove the entire helmet. I really hope we get a trailer soon.

Comic-Con setup. More to come

The "Power Coins" are really low tech/not so polished like we normally expect them.
