Spoilers Supergirl - Season 2

Will the new Superman actor be big enough to fill the Boots of Steel...yet willing to keep his role minimal like Tiny CGI Superman?

You might have touched on something that didn't quite occur to me before; this will be the first live action version of Superman to be a supporting instead of a leading character. This will have to be considered when comparing this one to the other live action Supermen.

Smallville had to lobotomise Kara so that she didn't take over the show and solve every adventures they had in less than 10 minutes.

Superman often gets "dumbed down" to keep a story moving, so if they go that route it won't be a surprise.

Bruce Wayne is playing second fiddle to Jim Gordon right now on "Gotham". ;)

Clark was almost always second fiddle to someone else on Smallville. For most of the run Lex Luthor. Some episodes other DC characters who were more proactive in being heroic like Green Arrow. Or had more advanced powers like Kara.

Yeah, but that goes only to show the problems of SV, a show where Clark was supposed to be the leading character. This time around, Superman only shows up to play second fiddle to Supergirl. In fact, it would be a problem if Superman would take over those episodes he's in like GA and co. on SV did.

I like that idea!

Me too.

J'onn said Kara doesn't known what is in the pod. He's encountered enough Kryptonians by now that he'd be able to ID one telepathically (tho not by name), which means it's something different, possibly more "primitive". Which probably means a non-humanoid, the most well-known are Krypto (Kryptonian dog), Streaky (Earth cat given super-powers by Kryptonite), Beppo (Kryptonian "chimp") and Comet (Earth centaur/horse). Of the two Kryptonian options, I would say that Krypto is more likely due to audience familarity and ease of working with the "actor".

The producers have already said they were not going to rule out the possibility of a having the the pets on the show. I really hope they stay away from the chimp, or if they do at least do him as CGI. I'm very against using other primates in entertainment, and would hate to have to stop watching Supergirl, or at least skip episodes with the chimp.

The new 52 version of Krypto has been pretty well done. He's more like one of the Stark's direwolves than a lovable pooch in a cape.
