It'd need to be in the next couple of months as it airs in January 2017.
That early eh? I knew it was 2017 but didn't know it was that early. Ah well, in that case I'll go with what you say which is ''next couple of months''
I can't wait for the first casting news.
Well they want to start filming in September, and I think casting should be around 2 months before that so in a few weeks time they should begin casting. The question is that will the casting call be "coded". We could have two kinds of coding I think:
1: The call could be sent as a different show name with some different non-Trekkie description so if they have a leak the fans should not do the link between the call and Star Trek (the major features of the characters will be the ones needed for the show, but as we don't know that it is about Star Trek we couldn't make the link)
2: They will make the call for Star Trek but the descriptions won't be exactly for the characters but something similar.
Of course there could be always be the case that we will get the correct call and they will leak it so we will have some solid information. But who knows?

Not necessarily. Depending on the shooting schedule and what scenes are going to be filmed first or last, some roles may not be cast until days before filming.
One thing that's neat is because it films in Toronto, we might see a lot of Canadian actors in it, such as those from Murdoch Mysteries, Republic of Doyle, Flashpoint, etc.
I believe Donelly Rhoades, Kate Vernon, Paul Campbell, Alessandro Juliani, Aaron Douglass, Tehmoh Penikett and Michael Hogan were Canadian actors who were great on Battlestar Galactica. I would be happy to have a number of them on the new Star Trek show (especially Penikett and Hogan!)
Especially if he was in a Seven-esque catsuit
Any chance we hear our first bit of casting at Comic-Con?
Somewhere along the line Michael Hogan would have been an awesome captain.
