Spoilers STAR TREK BEYOND

Interesting thought..the movie is a Kobayashi Maru or similar test by somebody to determine the resolve and ethics of deep space explorers dealing with the prime directive and initiating new members into the UFP.

Probably not, but either way it looks like the UFP is at the heart of the matter.

I don't think the CGI from the HP commercial is all that significant however, it's just designed to be a series of random images.

I really don't understand why they moved the nacelles closer together? That was the worst thing they could've done with the design, in my opinion.
I'm sure you could think of worse things, if you really tried.

Even if this was a scene from BEY, why would it be terrible? You have an instructor lecturing to a class while on a field trip.
Clunky dialog, weak acting, no apparent relevance to main plot, no real drama, no main characters featured.

If they pull the "It was all a dream" gag, I'm done.

Forever.
Done FOREVER? Like, no more Star Trek ever? Classic fanboy overreaction.

^ With five soundstages, it sounds like something more than a "production office". Given the amount of production that goes on in Vancouver, this is probably more a general investment than a specifically Star Trek move.

Isn't the new Star Trek series supposed to be filming up in Canada? They might be getting specific studio space for that, as well.

Good article, but gah she's doing the Vulcan salute wrong.
That might be the best she can do. For some reason, some people have a very hard time physically getting their fingers arranged correctly for the Vulcan salute. Even Quinto had to have his fingers glued together to do the salute in ST09.

There's a Star Trek themed commercial for HPE's "the machine" out there. While all action shots seem to be from the two JJ-movies, a lot of the displayed graphics seem to be from the new "Beyond". Between others, there are quite some good views of the new Enterprise schematics with her backwards bent pylons.

I haven't made screenshots, but if you stop the video at the 0:42 second mark, on the top left is our clearest look yet at the new Enterprise design. Have to admit I think the backwards bent pylons look horrible...

EDIT: Please ignore post. Haven't seen it was already thoroughly dicussed before. My bad...

This has been picked apart in two other threads. They're generic marketing displays and don't hold up to much scrutiny.

Ah, indeed! I'm sorry, I seem to have overlooked the two pages 242-243...

Two short videos from Giacchino.

The 1st video has some percussion + notes from ST09/STiD + notes from TOS.
Great watching Alex Acuña's face during that.

The 2nd video looks like an acapella version of the classic soundtrack!
Since everyone in the choir is wearing headphones, I'll guess they're adding voices to an already-recorded orchestral track.
