Game Of Thrones Season 6 Discussion (Spoilers)

Indeed, considering the show has set up its possibility with Jaime and Brienne traveling to Riverrun, the Brotherhood Without Banners name drop, and the sudden reappearance of Walder Frey.

In fact, if Lady Stoneheart doesn't show up at this point, I would accuse the writers of deliberately teasing fans with the current story line.

Yeah, the show went out of its way to reintroduce the Riverlands last week by showing several of those elements: Walder Frey and his family, what they did, the Blackfish, Edmure Frey (while Tobias Menzies is busy over at Outlander), the Brotherhood Without Banners, and sending Jaime in that direction. Further, why else send Brienne down there when she spent the last couple of seasons diligently searching for Sansa, only to be sent off again?
Especially considering Brienne never found Sansa in the first place. If they were going to diverge from that plotline, they might as well stick to it instead of sending Brienne haflway down the continent that just so happens to realign with her book storyline.

I'm really not expecting Lady Stoneheart to show up. Too many trips to the resurrection well makes it less special, IMO. And the show's at a point now where they should really be starting to tie up loose ends instead of throwing more twists into the plot.

...well I wonder if knowing she existed was why we readers were so sure that Jon wasn't dead--knowing it hadn't just happened to one person. Maybe they delayed it to give Jon's resurrection more impact?

...but I don't think we'll see her.

I fail to see the logic behind "all of this stuff happening HAS to mean that we're getting Lady Stoneheart".

Especially with less than 20 hours left in the series' lifespan (counting the final 3 episodes of this season and however many episodes we end up getting over the course of the next couple of seasons, both of which we know are likely going to be far shorter than we're used to on account of both David and Dan saying they only had about 15 hours left of story to tell beyond the 10 hours of story they're covering this season).

Interesting episode titles for the 4 remaining episodes:

The Broken Man (?)
No One (obviously about Arya and faceless dudes)
Battle of Bastards (Another obvious reference, Jon vs Ramsey)
The Winds of Winter (White Walkers?, also isn't that the title of next book?)

...the last might also refer to actual winter too, IIRC snowflakes were just starting to fall in King's Landing at the end of DoD.

I just remembered something, and I wonder if the show runners even have a plan for this arc.

I thought I saw Catelyn Stark's face in the house of black and white so it seems unlikely that's she's been resurrected. Although Michelle Fairley has been sighted in Belfast that likely doesn't mean anything much as she's from NI. I believe she's also stated that she won't be returning as Lady Stoneheart.

Hodor's Death was originally much more violent:
https://www.yahoo.com/news/original-grisly-end-hold-door-183120238.html
“I said, ‘What the dead would be doing to Hodor would be ripping his clothes off once they got through that door,” he admitted in an interview. “They would be ripping his flesh off. If the dead can go through wood, they’re going to be tearing Hodor apart.”

Yet showrunners David Benioff and Dan Weiss pointed out that tearing Hodor apart might make the scene more horrific than sad. Think Red Viper of Dorne. So Bender relented and we got the scene we watched that traumatized us in a very different way.

“I still wanted to make it scary enough, see Hodor surrounded and engulfed by these skeletal arms and long fingers, that were eventually going to smother and kill and rip him apart, or whatever they were going to do that we didn’t see. But to not let the horror of it overwhelm the emotion of losing that character and making it really land on the idea that he was sacrificing himself so his friends could get away. That was the dominant idea.”

The Broken Man could be Bran, Loras Tyrell, or Edmure (or Theon for that matter).

I just rewatched the scene. While it's true they didn't say "she failed," Jaqen does say "Shame. The girl had many gifts." which in itself implies failure.
I still think it's some personal vendetta the Waif has against her. Jaqen still seems pleased.

I suspect it actually refers to the Hound (Sandor Clegane) although I expect to be proven wrong.

I know he is somewhat of a fan favourite (I liked him, too) and his ultimate fate was a bit ambiguous but I wouldn't mind it beeing left open without him ever appearing again.

If Arya joins the acting troupe she could easily play Arya. There was no Arya role in the play but one could be added.

If I were to predict the way the show is going, Cersei and Jamie will find a way to die simultaneously the way they came into the world.

It'd be neat if then there was a scene with Denerys, Tyrion, and a Stark, the last holders of their names declaring final peace with each other.
