Marvel All New, All Different - Ongoing Discussion (Spoilers)

It's probably been undone by now, but years ago in John Byrne's She-Hulk graphic novel exposure to radiation locked Jennifer in her She-Hulk form "permanently."

Oh, that was undone a long time ago, in the Sensational She-Hulk series probably. Heck, since then she went through a phase where she needed tech to transform into She-Hulk at all (it was brief, and during Dan Slott's run). She also used to have more mental changes when she was She-Hulk back during her first appearances. But, generally speaking, she has full control over her transformations.

Now you know it's bad when even the Joker hates Nazis.

From John Byrne's 1996 Batman & Captain America.

I posted a link to Tor's Alisdair Stuart's article about Captain America #1 and DC Rebirth, and the reactions to them over in the DC Rebrith thread, and I just wanted to post it here too.
He says the same thing that a lot of us are saying on here, that there is no way this whole Steve is Hydra thing will last.
I'm always a little scared when people actually start threatening writers with violence over something they did to a fiction character. It's fine if you're a fan of a character, but that is just taking things to far.
EDIT: Io9's Evan Narcisee has the same Cosmic Cube/Kobik theory some of you guys posted on here.

I just noticed that this has been an ongoing trend at Marvel recently.

Captain America is a member of HYDRA.

Superior Iron Man.

Superior Spider-Man.

Villain Cyclops. Although Marvel has not outright called him a villain. Nothing Scott has done recently I'd call heroic.

Cyclops' brother Havok is also evil due to they AXIS story line.

Who is next to walk the villain train at Marvel?

I didn't notice that. I guess that must have just become their standard way to try to throw a shocking twist a people.

Yeah, the people threatening violence are idiots. That is completely uncalled for, and a bit freaky. Unfortunately its not surprising given how some corners of the internet act, but still a bit scary.

As for the story itself, I think everyone knows this HYDRA nonsense is temporary and will be retconned/revealed to not be true/fixed and then forgotten in a year or two. Personally, I'm just done with Marvel doing these stupid shock twists to try to get news. I also think its a stupid twist anyway, and I HATE most hero turn villain stories like Superior Spider-Man and things like "Oh, here's a real deep dark secret that will totally change the character forever". So, I hate the HYDRA stuff, but not because I even remotely think it will last. I just find it stupid to the point of extreme irritation and will act on those feelings by not reading the comic and probably any comic by Nick Spencer ever again. That seems the best way to deal with it.

Also, a silver lining: we've gotten some funny memes out of Cap's "Hail Hydra" scene, so some people have salvaged the situation into something entertaining.

Eh, about what I expected. I can't imagine he's too invested at this point, especially in a character he didn't have any role in creating. I do disagree about them making a movie out of the storyline, though. Stupid comic stuff like HYDRA Cap is something a Zach Snyder would do because its "kewl". The MCU will probably get to HYDRA Cap around the same time they adapt Avengers #200

Does he still get any money from Marvel? Didn't they create some kind of a special title for him?

This is exactly the kind of thing that Stan Lee would do. The only difference is the cover would say something like "YOU WON'T BELIEVE THE TWIST INSIDE. THIS IS THE GREATEST STORY EVER."

I could see Stan Lee doing it as a story line over a few issues. But, it would be Cap being brainwashed into HYDRA, or replaced by a clone or robot or something, and it would be over in a few months. Retconning Cap into being a HYDRA member for most of his life (and all of his career as Cap)? I really don't think that would be a Stan Lee story, even as a "they're probably lying about it being for real, and him being HYDRA will be revealed as a fake out eventually" kind of thing.

Do we know for a fact this is going to be a long term thing, and that it won't be over "in a few months"? All we've had is one issue, and I haven't seen anybody from Marvel say anything about how long this whole thing will last.

^ That's why we call this "overreacting".
People judging the whole story barely before it begins, seeing the first twist and for some reason thinking that all twists are already used up for the arc. Since this is the first comic most people seem to have picked up in their whole life. Or the second.

I mean... death threats to the writer? For real?

Well, if its supposedly not brainwashing, a clone/replacement or a fakeout, then its technically been happening for decades and we just didn't know. If we take them at their word, Steve Rogers will be a HYDRA agent as long as the character exists.

Realistically, Marvel went almost three years with Peter Parker dead, and he's one of their biggest characters. So, yeah, HYDRA Steve will probably be around for a long time. The stupider the idea, the longer Marvel likes to drag it out. Unless the idea tanks the book, or Nick Spencer has a falling out with Marvel, the HYDRA stuff could go on until the Infinity War movies comes out at least. If nothing else, they don't do their stupid shock twists just to reverse them at the end of one story arc. They'll drag it out, unless one of the things I mentioned earlier happen. At least, that's what I think they'll do.

The universe is only a couple months old since Reed Richard's created it.

Hey, 10 years ago, didn't JMS or Waid, make it so that Reed Richards had also created the last 616 too?

For real? "If we take them at their word"?
Since when do we believe what a writer says about how the story will proceed when they don't want to tell you how the story ends and keep it a surprise if they can? What writer is honest about this ever?

Or did you also believe that Cumberbatch WASN'T Khan in the last Trek movie, the latest Secret Wars WAS the permanent future of Marvel and "dead is dead" regarding most comic characters?

If the Cosmic Cube girl theories are correct, then this is going to have a simple fix.
Honestly, I would be surprised if this lasted more than one or two arcs, and I don't think there is anyway it will make it past Spencer's run.
As for the dead is dead thing, I'm kind of amazed that they haven't brought Logan back yet. They do have Old Man Logan now, so I guess they kind of have, same way Jean Grey is kind of back thanks to Young Jean.

If the past decade is any indication, Wolverine will be resurrected just in time for his new movie to come out.
