Supernatural, season 11 *SPOILERS!*

These things made me wonder how much had to be cut for time. Hopefully there will be many deleted scenes on the DVDs-- and hopefully integrated into the episodes.

This makes it all the more astounding that they'd waste as much time on the English lady as they did. Between that and jamming in a bunch of things that didn't really need to be there (read: Billie's cameo, sorry but I'm not a fan of her), this episode was a trainwreck. Most disappointing season finale to date.

They might as well have introduced British Lady out of the blue in the cliffhanger and used that screen-time for, say, the long awaited conversation between Cass and God.

I don't think we'll ever see God again, or Amara. Lucifer might turn up again as a bad guy, which won't be easy since they off'ed one of the Horsemen and his Cage is cracked. Assuming he can do anything at all without a vessel, or if he's even still in the universe.

So, is Metatron totally dead? she did something different to him, consumed him in darkness. Is prophet guy going to hang around?

Just so little wrapped up and so much time wasted.

^^ I think Prophet Guy is dead.

I agree. I liked the British stuff, but there was a lot more that needed to be done. There was enough undone to fill another episode.

The Prophet had his soul taken. We don't know more than that. But it certainly didn't look good for him.

Not the season finale I was expecting. But the stakes between Chuck and Amara were just getting too high to resolve without drastically changing the series in regards to future episodes. With all the themes being played out lately with Chuck/Amara, Light/Darkness, Life/Death and the importance of balancing them, it was no surprise to me seeing Sam apparently shot (killed??) and Dean's mom, Mary, brought back to life. Amara gave Dean his wish of seeing his mother again and balance demanded someone (Sam?) pay the price. After Billie's ranting about no more coming back to life from death again for Sam or Dean, it makes you wonder what the cost of balance will mean for Sam coming back (if he is, indeed, even dead). But it's all academic if Sam was just shot and still alive.

No, I don't think he's dead. They didn't even show it and the woman was there to bring him back with her, so Sam is very much alive. For now, anyway.

What I'm wondering is the purpose of having Dean carrying the souls. It was like Chuck had an ulterior motive for it, or something. I'll bet it's going to come up again next season.

Souls are the power source of Heaven and Hell, they said already Angels are powered by them.

Dean became a Demon without losing his body which I take it is extremely rare. His Soul was altered, then cured, now he took 200,000 of them into himself, maybe more than Castiel did in season 6 (plus Dean's were human and therefore not corrupted monster ones).

Sooooooo are they trying to imply that if he dies again or Billie reaps him, he goes fully Angel now?

^That's kinda what I'm thinking. Chuck said they needed more archangels but they were "hard to make." Will it end with Dean becoming an archangel, maybe the "new Michael?"

That would be a cool idea especially with that remark Chuck made about Sam and Dean being around to keep a watch on Earth while Amara and he were away.

If Dean became an angel, that would make Cas kind of redundant.

Well, it would be the end of the show by that time, so that wouldn't matter. I really don't see Supernatural going to season 13. I think next season will be the last.

When they run out of monsters, they'll just crossover with all the other CW shows. But fortunately for the Winchesters, Supergirl will just use her powers to push them into walls where kryptonite is conveniently hidden.

If the Sword of Michael is a metaphor for an Angelic device or mantle of power, they could put him out of his misery and pass it to Dean. Or if literal, it'll change him the same way the First Blade did.

My favourite part of the finale: Dean's terrible "Scottish" accent.

There were actually a number of nice character moments.

In a weird way, I'm almost sad that the show got renewed and is continuing. Not that I won't love seeing more adventures of the boys, but from a straight narrative standpoint....

From the pilot to S11 finale, all major threads are dealt with... the Apocolypse completely bookended.... verbal references to the pilot via dialogue in the finale.... starting with the death of Mary; her resurrection at the end..... Dean getting his moment as opposed to Sam in Swan Song.... God and Amara ascending at the end.... the redemption of Metatron, Lucifer and Crowley, in some ways... take off the cliffhanger, and ressurect John and Mary together, with Sam standing at Dean's side with God putting the protection of Earth in their hands.... would have been a completely satisfying Series Finale IMO.

Curious if we have any fans of the old Mainframe Entertainment show "ReBoot" here?

Just re-watched "Hell's Angel" again, and I'm surprised to have missed this the first time around. The announcer on the TV that Head!Cas is watching is the same actor that played Mike the TV on aforementioned show, and when Lucifer hit Amara with the burst of power from the Hand of God, the sound effect was definitely one of the SFX from ReBoot. I scoured the credits and I don't see any personnel in common between the two series, but it's still something I found interesting and thought I'd share.

Sounds like Lucifer is going to bounce around from body to body next season, and the first meat suit is... Rick Springfield.
