Oh man, I might have to pick this one up. TNG Season 5-7 is one of my favorite time periods (overlapping with DS9 Seasons 1-2).

Got it! Thanks :D Really enjoying this story, a good mix of old and new. Worthy of 50 Years and a fine tribute to Leonard Nimoy/Spock.

In the lap of squalor I assure you.
You need more than one ship to deal with that.

Besides, Spock just needs to lead the people chasing him to where the planet sized amoeba are dividing, or Gornspace.

Just read ongoing #57. Wow, Pardek Senior rocks!

I wonder if the ending will tie back into "Vulcan's Vengeance" arc from way back in ongoing #7 and #8.

Just read Manifest Destiny #3. Holy crap!
I'm thinking Kai might be dead even though he was the longest recurring character in the ongoing series (apart from Keenser, Zahra and the Main cast).

Since they are cancelling the regular series, do I need to pick the latest stuff up as single issues? Or will they still reprint everything that they've published?

I'm super-curious for the September solicitations but I think those are in a month or two?

They should still reprint everything. IIRC, IDW reprinted all their Doctor Who comics in trade paperback compilations, and that was with them losing the license. Since IDW still has the Trek license, I see no reason why the Ongoing comics won't be reprinted.

Love the movie poster covers for the Manifest Destiny series. Seeing up the Search for Spock variant cover was a delight. I snatched up the last one.

The latest issue of Manifest Destiny was great fun. Good pacing and good use of supporting characters.

    SPOILERS
Just a few niggles - Auxillary Control is now the Battle Bridge. While this doesn't surprise me, it sounds cooler, it would have been nice to retain more of a TOS feel.

Pet hate - an all male security team. We have Zahra but she's a named 'token' female security officer (and part of the landing party). If they are going to do all male teams they should at least balance this out with a few all female teams occasionally. We did get one way back but with two named characters.

Transporting within the ship. It isn't clear why the transporters, a clear chink in the security armour, are not a priority for the security lock-out. Essentially, what happens in this issue is what should have happened to Kirk and Spock in ST09. The Feds look really dumb for knot keeping a closer eye on an obvious weak spot.

Yesterday "Legacy of Spock, Part 4" and "Manifest Destiny Part 4" came out.

I thought the resolution of the plot was too easy, but it could have been a worse tribute to Leonard Nimoy. May he and Spock live long and prosper.

The Klingon crew? They prove they're jerks but some of them listen to reason. I found the series rather pointless.

Read the final parts of the Legacy of Spock and Manifest Destiny. Really enjoyed them both although I agree as is often the case in the comics, the conclusions felt rushed and convenient.

I think they didn't do a good job of explaining how a single ship tipped the balance in the Spock story. The final scenes were an excellent homage though.

The principle issues I had with Manifest Destiny goes to the heart of the problem with trek in general. Building bigger, more powerful, and 'cooler' ships with more crew is pointless since you either have to ignore them or come up with excuses as to why those factors count for nothing. Less crew allows you to be focused, look for ways to overcome obvious limitations (as opposed to inventing contrived obstacles to overcome) and develop the characters you already have.

One other irritating thing was that McCoy was asked for tactical advice before the wounded sulu has to be brought to the bridge to help. While I agree that sulu was best qualified to advise on a Starship battle, what about asking the other two senior officers who were also on the bridge, both of whom are equal rank to sulu and one of whom is a security expert, whose training will no doubt include tactics. Instead the women's dialogue was relegated to caring about their friends, and providing care for the wounded. That's a tragic misstep in a story with a strong female guest character and it's a formula I sadly expect to be repeated in Beyond.
