Big Bang Theory Season 9 Discussion (Spoilers included)

I can't speak for Felicity or even BBT, but quite a few shows run at a different timeframe than they air. Take the Walking Dead for example, a drastic haircut, change of facial hair, or noticeable tattoo for instance, could really screw things up or require a ton of cash to cover up with makeup/wigs/etc. And it would be just downright annoying (and expensive) if they changed it on a whim even during the season.

Consistency can be really important at times.
Yes in those situations such a clause makes sense. The serial format is unforgiving of off season changes. I'd have to check, but I think they might have put Cuoco in a wig at the start of the season to match her hair from the end of the previous season. Her hair seemed longer right after the season premier.

Yes I agree. Depending on the type of show there are certain restrictions. But it seems silly to put such rules for actors who don't have to go through dramatic makeovers.

I remember reading somewhere that Lecy Goranson (Becky #1) really wanted to cut her hair but the producers wouldn't let her so Roseanne took a pair of scissors and cut it right on set.

So Kaley cut her hair. I didn't care for it but I'm not going to stop watching just because of that.

Oddly enough, I just recently saw that interview with Lecy during a Roseann rewatch. In her case the producers told her no because "A 16 year old girl from Illinois wouldn't cut her hair like that." Lecy shot back "I'M from Illinois!"
And yes, Rosey solved the standoff by hacking Lecy's hair off herself.

But seriously, it did make Penny look old(er). Penny is supposed to be the young, hot one of the bunch, and, sorry Kaley, it did make her look older than she is supposed to be and older than Kaley is.

I never heard about the Felicity hair crisis before.

In retrospect, might Sheldon's reaction to Penny's hair cut be a referrence?!

For the record, I love women with short hair, and I liked Penny with short hair. I don't think it makes her look older at all, but even if, it's the 9th season. I'd say she's allowed to grow up a bit.

IIRC the cast of 24 was required to have their haircut every ten days, as the entire season is supposed to take place within a 24 hour time frame.

No drastic changes to your appearance is a pretty common stipulation for a lot of actors.
Her hair style changed a couple of times during the past 9 years not just a little shorter/longer...
And with some the (signature) hairdo is for some reason part of the character(for the viewers) but Penny doesn't really have a specific "Penny-style" like "The Rachel" from Friends(apparently fans wrote angry letters every time she got a slightly different hairdo) or the long curly hair from Felicity...
And i think it depends on the show and the passing of time in the show...

There's also the consideration that you're selling a product using stock images and toys and shirts and you don't want your new material to be "off-model".

The opening scene was great, so was Amy's little homage to When Harry Met Sally.

Regarding the ending, Penny has surpassed Leonard in the "Sheldon-handling" department. He should take notes.

I wanted to slap Raj every time he mentioned dating two women. It was so annoying...like it was supposed to be. I wouldn't go to Sheldon's stupid meeting either. Argh.

I'm hoping we have an ep where Emiliy and Clair find out that raj has been doubling up on them. Caltech would be be looking for a new Astrophysicist by the time they are done.

But I think the desire to slap him was the aim of the writers.

He'd be the first Astrophysicist on Mars. ;)

It's not cheating or bad until they have a conversation where they determine the relationship, and they might determine that they have an open relation ship. They actually have to say "So are we exclusive?" Otherwise they're all just idiots full of childish assumptions assuming that they can put unspoken demands on another person after randomly dating for a week or two.

Yes, an omission is as good as a lie, but we don't know if Emily and Clair have stopped dating other people either, because these women haven't determined their relationship with Raj either.
