I always find it funny when some ninny on the internet decides that a certain demographic should stop liking a certain type of entertainment. I don't think anything could be a bigger waste of time than trying to tell someone to not like something they like on the internet.
I'm waiting till they release the comic book version of it.
Meh. I'll just watch the movie adaptation of the comic book.

The local hockey team, the Huntsville Havoc, has a Superhero Night every year, where everyone (including the teams themselves!) can dress up as their favorite superhero.
The Havoc were in the Batman jerseys (and won!).
They also have zombie, geek/nerd, scifi, and other themed nights. Of course, it probably helps that this is one of the geekiest cities on the planet!Edit: And in case it isn't obvious, my family goes to quite a few games!

Are these omnibuses the same as the Epic Collections that have been popping up on Comixology lately? I'm since those are only around $20 that these are much bigger?

For the record, my interests include, Star Trek(!), Amateur Astronomy, Wargaming, Roleplaying and reading Science Fiction. For comics, collection ranges from The Dark Knight Returns graphic novel thru the Justice League International fun fest and The She Hulk series where she broke the fourth wall, to various X-Men collected series (Phoenix Saga for one), and I have a particular liking for Calvin and Hobbes! I have the collected works of Shakespere and the Sherlock Holmes Complete Collection, and yet I don't feel my particular interests are particularly wide!
I watch far too many crime shows, but "Sherlock" is brilliant, I like watching Sasha Alexander and Angie Harmon in "Rizzoli & Isles", and "Criminal Minds" lets me see bad guys being caught on a regular basis by a cool team of characters, however much it (may) overexagerate the number of serial killers in the US (I hope!). The fictional BAUs' successes cheers me up from the depressing state of the real world.
As for the guide to being adult, I was going to suggest there should be a "Adults for Dummies" book, but I think Zaku beat me to it!

The world is full of self-important people who love to smugly lecture others how to live and think, as if they are a paragon of virtue and a prime example for all humankind. It's the height of arrogance and hubris. Piss on them all and the lovely smell of their flatulence.
I've been slowly, irregularly working my way through the Marvel "Ultimate Collection" DVD-ROMs that were on the shelves around a decade or so back...a total of around 3000 issues of six classic series on one DVD-ROM per series...and actual scans of original copies, staples and all, not reprocessed reprints.
This made me curious to check Amazon for the Captain America set, which I skipped at the time because his run in Tales of Suspense was also in the Iron Man set. Those things are going for $300+ now! Pretty sure they were around $40 or $50 when they were new.

Yep. Grabbed a couple of those when they came out and recently went in search of others. Still not expensive per issue but hard to justify such a markup to my budget. Same thing happened with a couple of 5.1 audio formats. Things I didn't grab when new are now 10-15x more expensive. Oh well, as Steven Wright says, "Ya can't have everything...where would you put it?"
Agreed. If you love who you love is fine for all lifestyles, then you like what you like should be fine for all kinds of entertainment regardless of age, gender, whatever. This article is just some snob with, as mentioned above, a stick up his butt.

A situation happened at work this week that reminded me of this article. Basically a parent making a comment to me that he couldn't wait for his teenage son to "grow up". The father was a big tough alpha male and the son is a perfectly well adapted young man who is has a lot of talents but doesn't like sports. I'm actually very glad that, for the most part, we live in a much more tolerant society these days.
Being an adult isn't about what you do in your spare time, it's about what you do in your committed time.
The guy working hard at his full time job to support his wife and kids and also likes superhero movies is more adult than the guy crashing on his buddy's couch reading Tolstoy.

Dare I be so bold as to suggest that grown-ups don't post rants online telling other grown-ups what they shouldn't be doing?
I myself have issues with the MCU movies, and let's just say Batman v Superman didn't impress. But I don't think it's wrong for others to enjoy those movies. And while I have been known to make derisive comments about the "unwashed masses" in regards to popular movies I don't approve of, I've never suggested those unwashed masses shouldn't be seeing those movies.

Having an issue with superhero stories is fine. We all have different tastes, we're entitled to our opinions and to express those opinions. But going around belittling people for having different tastes/opinions isn't cool. And a statement that starts with "grown-ups shouldn't" is just rude.
Nothing goes over my head! My reflexes are too fast, I would catch it.
The stick is virtual. I think we can assume that the rectum is real. I wonder if the writer of the article is completely anhedonic or whether he has trained his brain to secrete serotonin and dopamine only when his senses are presented with the works of Great Masters.
