Adults should grow up and stop watching superhero movies.

Very impressive. In the past year or so, I've collected the two John Byrne Fantastic Four Omnibus (omnibii?), Roger Stern Spider-Man Omnibus, Chris Claremont Uncanny X-Men Omnibus volume 3 and have CC's UXM vol. 1 (3rd printing) and vol 2 (second printing) on pre-order. I wanna get the Claremont/Lee omnibii(?), but I can't find vol 1 for under $175.

In trade paperback, I've collected the complete Roger Stern Avengers (including his WCA mini), Walt Simonson's Thor, Frank Miller's Daredevil (including Born Again and Man Without Fear) Spider-Man: The Alien Costume Saga 1 &2, Sins of the Past and Death of Jean Dewolff (I've had Kraven's Last Hunt for ages) All pof Starlin early cosmic/Thanos stuff , all the way through Infinity Gauntlet (Infinity War and Crusade were just "meh". not gonna waste money.), Captain America "The Death of the Red Skull" and "The Captain" and Iron M<an "Armor Wars".

There's a John Byrne Omnibus coming out that collects a lot of random work, such as his Incredible Hulk, his Wolverine run written by Archie Goodwin, art on Champions, ect; that I am really looking forward to.

I kinda regret getting Miller's DD in trade, when I so much prefer the larger page size of the Omnibus.

Hey, Miller's DD omnibus received a new printing this year, after the success of DD season 1 last year. You could find one on the cheap on either Amazon or Cheapgraphicnovels.

You also have an impressive collection. I plan on skipping John Byrne's Collected Marvel works, but I will be picking up his West Coast Avengers omnibus that comes out later this summer. West Coast Avengers was THE Avengers book back in the day. Also the last volume of JB's Superman comes out in April. I'll be picking that up too.

Adulting is awful. It is truly, truly awful. Enjoy being a child as much as you can. Who are you going to answer to, anyway? I guarantee you that every person has something they enjoy doing that others would frown upon as being immature. To hell with that. It's your life, enjoy it as you see fit so long as no one else is harmed by it.

You can get rid of professional sports...when you pry them from my cold, dead hands!

I don't think that was really the point. I think the point is that super-hero movies can be enjoyed by adults as much as adults enjoy watching sports. It makes me wonder though, how many comic book nerds are also sports fans. I certainly enjoy both. I also enjoy Mozart, Beethoven, Miles Davis, Peter Gabriel and Arcade Fire. I enjoy reading Charles Dickens, opera, independent cinema, b-horror movies, Stephen King, and JRR Tolkien. I don't differentiate what is for kids and what is for adults in any of these cases.

@M.A.C.O. -- Thanks for the heads-up on the DD/Miller re-issue. My same regret applies to the Simonson Thor run as well, but, damn! You can't find that one for under $175 either.

And I don't know whether to thank you or curse your name for making me aware of cheapgraphicnovels. Oh, my aching bank account.

Comic nerds and sports fans ?

They're not mutually exclusive, but they don't cross over hugely.

What makes me chuckle is sports fans looking down on geeks and nerds before returning in an irony free manner to their in depth discussion of players and stats from an obscure game that took place fifteen years ago...

Yeah, I broke down and bought one those $175 omnibus' off ebay. It is in perfect condition. I guess the original owner only read it once. I put it on my credit card and didn't feel too bad buying it, since the original price was $125.

I know the feeling. Cheapgraphicnovels is almost a steal with the collected volumes they have for sale.

I was joking but there is a real book...

I'm both and have been since I was a child in elementary school in the 1970s. One does not preclude the other though I admit I've only met one other person like on that front.

It comes down to all comic fans being socially inadequte, and all sports fans being stupid.

Who'd want to be both ?

:)

I admit I'm a Baltimore Ravens fan (don't speak to me of last season. Too many injuries) but that is mostly my not to subtle way of protesting the name of the team from Washington D.C.

I'm definitely both (American football and basketball primarily), and I think it's just as silly for nerds to look down their noses at sports as it is vice versa.

Though being disinterested is perfectly cool, of course. Everybody geeks for their own thing.
