‘Superman & Batman’ movie will follow ‘Man of Steel’

That never bothered me. The best Superman (the) Movie has almost no action at all.

Plus, doesn't Man of Steel open with action scenes on Krypton?

I had heard that. I guess what I'm saying is that there seemed to be a better selection of available seats for this thing, less than 24 hrs. before it drops, than there was for TFA almost two months before release.

On the other hand, I'm basing my impression on very little data, an absurdly small sample size. I didn't look at all the seating charts. It's just one local theater, by no means any kind of national trend. So take it with a grain of salt, YMMV, and all that. But I was afraid I'd be looking at sold out dates, and I ended up having my pick of showtimes, etc.

I usually got to early matinee showings, so the theaters are rarely ever more than half full.

The only full theaters I can remember being in were Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's stone (that was the only time I've seen a movie on Day 1), and Star wars Episode VII, where I saw it on Christmas Day.

The action starts right away on Krypton. There's a full scale war, flying ships and dinosaurs, fisticuffs.....

I would consider the Krypton scenes, the oil rig scene, the bus rescue, and the tornado scene to all be "action".

While I haven't seen every big blockbuster opening Thurs/Fri/Sat/Whatever, I have seen a lot of them. The last movies I saw where I can remember were both (literally) standing room only were Attack of the Clones and the Cowboy Bebop movie, and those were both over a decade ago.

I think between the longer premier "weekends" now, ubiquity of megaplexes, and the variation in screen types, I think it's much less likely to happen.

According to their metrics, which admittedly aren't perfectly exact, critical consensus is that BvS is markedly worse than all the MCU movies, and Snyder's best movies (Dawn of the Dead and Watchmen) are more or less tied with the MCU's worst.

I love how all of a sudden anyone who doesn't like the movie is now somehow a "Marvel fanboy". Speaking as an unapologetic Marvel fanboy, I really, really, wanted this movie (and MoS, and the entire DCEU) to do well. And while the style and tone may appeal to a segment of the fanbase, it obviously isn't catching on with mass audiences. Even if I'm not looking as forward to this movie as much as I hoped I would be, I still want it (and Suicide Squad and Wonder Woman) to be a success. It comes off as if DC fanboys are desperately trying to convince the world that their movies are better than they actually are.

Well, let's look at Metacritic:

I've always felt that Zack Snyder's reputation far out stripped his output.

I'm going tomorrow but I'm considerably lowering my expectations. I was really stoked for this until the reviews broke. Now, I'm like, 'not again...'

If the reviews I've read are right, I really hope DC ditch Snyder. But I'll withhold judgement until I've seen the thing.

Don't know if that's the completionist in me from watching so much other superhero stuff, or just wanting to be able to read and respond knowingly to all the discussion or if I think there's a chance it might actually be decently entertaining.

As the first ever live-action pairing of Superman and Batman...and the start the the Justice League franchise...it's too significant not to see it, even if it's a complete train wreck.

Batman being in it is enough to get me in the theater. I'm going to try and clear my mind of all that I've read about it before I go in. I too have lowered my expectations though. A review from a trusted source, someone that I usually see eye to eye with on all things Batman, was what lowered them.

I'm right there with ya. A ticket bought for BvS is a vote cast for more Snyder DC movies, and while I know that there's no way my $12 would be of any significance in the grand scheme of things, well, in the words of Captain Picard (sort of), "how many people buying BvS tickets does it take before it becomes wrong?!"

Shoot, I haven't even seen Deadpool yet, though I'm cool with waiting for Redbox on that one. But it'd be unethical to buy a ticket for Deadpool but go see BvS instead... right?

Seeing as how amazing Deadpool is, yes, it is quite unethical in comparison.

Just finished re-watching Man of Steel... I'm not going to argue with anyone, but I really don't see the negative backlash against Supes killing Zod. The movie took great pains to establish over and over again he didn't have any choice. They certainly made their case a lot more than the comics did when Superman killed Zod and two additional Kyptonians. Because that happened and it's canon (at least it was until Flashpoint). Just think.... Cinematic Superman killed only one third as many people as Comics Superman!

Which was a great storyline! Well I've only read the "Superman in Space" portion, I never read the schizo personality superhero first part.

The point is, is acting against his ethics in the comics had consequences to his inner self. In the movie, he just cried a bit, and that was that. Now, I realize they just didn't have the time in the movie, they had to wrap things up after the climax, but they knew that going in, so the criticism is justified. I'm not that much on the fence about this (more about other stuff in the movie), but I can understand anyone who is.
