Spoilers Supergirl - Season 1

This one wasn't as good as last week's but I still enjoyed it.
I was a big fan of Eddie McClintock in Warehouse 13, so I was really looking forward to his appearance here, but it was kind of underwhelming. He was pretty much just the typical asshole outsider who goes after one of our heroes.
I can't help but wonder if the mentions of Cadmus is a set up for Superboy. To me there's just to much of a connection there for it to not be a serious possibility.
I'm curious to see what is going to happen with Jeremiah Danvers being alive at Cadmus. The big question for me is, did he die and they brought him back to life, or did he never die. Either way, I'm thinking this is probably not going to a perfect happy reunion. If he's been alive all of this time, then something must have kept him from telling his daughters.
I wonder if we'll still be following J'Onn and Alex, or if they'll be gone until they find Cadmus?
I'm glad Cat didn't fall for Siobhan's attempt to sabotage Kara, I was afraid her plan was actually going to work. Siobhan just suddenly using her powers like she did at the end was kind of weird, I was expecting more of a set up there.
I really liked the flashbacks, it was nice to get more backstory bits for everyone.

It looks like it was as much of a surprise to her as to us. I suppose her power was awakened by her extreme emotion. Or maybe she's just never had cause to scream so loudly before, so she never discovered what would happen when she did.

Well she was falling to her death. That would certain awaken strong emotions all right.

I'm thinking the Cyborg Superman. Cadmus is using his body as a weapon to destroy Danvers' daughters. Plus, that would make an incredible finale -- Alex and Kara have to do battle with something that looks like their father but isn't.

I know that she was surprised by it too, it just seemed kind of random at the moment. I'm sure we'll get an explanation next week.

I actually liked this one better than last week's, which I found to be trite and boring. This at least offered something somewhat unique.

But I agree the military logistics (for lack of a better term) were poorly handled. Even the legal shenanigans were a bit of a stretch. Ignoring J'onn's status as a person, there was an American citizen arrested by someone who wasn't an officer of the law and sent off to a government detention facility that makes GTMO look like Wally World.

And I am reminded I still haven't seen season 5 of WH13. I've been waiting and waiting for it to show up on Netflix, but it looks like that's never going to happen.

One question I had after watching this episode came after J'onn said he's getting better at erasing memories. How does he know that? Who has he been practicing on?

I sort of wondered the same thing. Maybe doing it on the guy at the place reminded him how to do it?

Can he test doing it on animals? I mean they do have memories, memories that can be removed and such, right? So maybe he takes a walk through the woods or something and tries it out on the animals? Or maybe their captured criminals?

I didn't know you could quit the military, become a reporter for a few weeks, then rejoin at your previous rank and position. Interesting. Oh, and then commit treason, shoot at a military transport vehicle, free a federal prisoner, and go back to work as if nothing happened.

Oh yeah. Well, same comment, ammended.

Yes, but Berlanti has an agenda, so he will jump over all too obvious plotting problems to keep this unlikely Lane movement going throughout the series.

I didn't like Eddie being an unreasonable dick, but he still had rank and legal authority. Young TV writers shouldn't try to write military stuff as if it was just a group who work together and can do anything they want as long as the boss doesn't find out.

Entertainment screenwriters often have unrealistic or broad, stereotyping ideas about the military--particularly in the past couple of generations who about as close to any military experience as the earth is to the sun.

This is not particular to the military. Many professions are woefully distorted in entertainment. Let's not pretend the vast majority of law enforcement, legal, medical and scholarly roles in movies and TV programmes are much better portrayed than military roles.

The needs of the plot will often out weigh reality. We're Trek fans right? McCoy, Spock and even Kirk have rejoined Starfleet at the drop of a pin. Little known, and seldom used, reserve activation clause and all that.

There's such a thing as an Army Reserve, people.

Lucy Lane didn't have to drop all the way out of the military. She could simply have become a reservist, inactive, subject to reactivation at the same rank for whatever reason somebody deems fit. That's not unrealistic. Just convenient.

And just the kind of thing General Lane would insist she do when she went chasing Jimmy. Speaking of, General Lane is going to be pissed the next time we see him. I feel sorry for Jimmy.

Given her tendency to work for top secret alien-holding GTMOs, her little stint at CatCo (sounds like a pet store chain) would make more sense if it had been an undercover assignment to try to learn more about Supergirl.
