yeah, but that was kinda its own mini-series. It's now pulled in a main character, who is now in that narrative until things wrap up one way or the other.

I mean, I suppose Bashir COULD go back to Starfleet and then wrap up the S31 arc at a later date, but seemed pretty clear that that was going to resolve itself one way or the other before Bashir moved on, regardless of where he ends up going...

Read Abyss because it was in the house in my pile "to read sometime" and followed-up with Disavowed - it made for a nice continuity thing. I will be on the lookout for the other Section 31 books and am pleased to hear this arc will be continued. Voted "outstanding."

The German edition of it has been announced for December 2016.

I have already the original here, but want to read The Fall first. I'll probably read the German edition, too. Would be good for the German publisher. ;)

Would the jaunt ships essentially be Surak-style ships with nacelles on them? The description was not entirely clear.

At first I thought they were a nod to the NSEA Protector.

I have no idea. Needle-shaped hulls surrounded by wormhole-generating ring hulls. Beyond that, I leave it to readers' imaginations.

Actually, there is a image of a ship fitting that description in The Official Starships Collection magazine #34, which deals with the Surak class. The only difference is the color - the image shows a red ship, whereas jaunt ships are silver/metallic grey.

^If you mean the Vulcan ringship from Enterprise, that's the Suurok class, not Surak. And of course the Vulcan ringships were based on the ringship Enterprise seen in the rec-room art in Star Trek: The Motion Picture.

^ But for whatever reason, Eaglemoss does refer to it as the Surak Class. Since Markonian was referencing their magazine, he probably had to stick with Eaglemoss's terminology.

Meh, I still think it's Suurok. I mean, it wouldn't make a whole lot of sense to name a military vessel after Vulcan's most prominent philosopher and pacifist, would it?

^ Oh, I agree it's Suurok. Archer pronounced it Suurok. I read that it was written in the script as Suurok.

Eaglemoss, however, disagrees. If you're specifically calling out their magazine, you have to use the same title they do, right?

(Although I'm not sure the pre-ENT Season 4 Vulcans would have had a problem naming a military vessel after Surak if they wanted to...)

No, you don't have to. When citing a source you know to be erroneous, it's proper to point out the error, either with a [sic] if the error is obvious or with a notation providing a correction.

^ Eaglemoss Collections puts out the Star Trek: The Official Starships Collection. A couple posts back, I linked to an image of the cover of their issue #34, entitled "Vulcan Surak Class".

But no one said you have to care. :p I just wanted to clarify that I agreed with you that the class is "really" called Suurok! ;) And I originally posted because I was offering a possible explanation as to why Markonian may have written his post the way he did. But I feel like I've probably spoken too much for him already (sorry, Markonian), and I should probably just drop it.

I really enjoy the mirror universe characters, especially those who are dead in the primary one (Eddington, K'Ehleyr).

Finished it today. I think I would prefer another Mirror Universe book rather than a Section 31 book next, but I will buy the sequel. Love older Saavik.

The character who actually interested me the most was the Section 31 Vulcan agent who praised Julian when they met. I imagine she has a very interesting back story.

I have to agree about Saavik. Looking forward to another MU Saavik appearance. Or for the German edition of this novel for that matter.

Looking forward to the next one. Thanks David Mack; an outstanding read.

Speaking of which, I was disappointed that "Section 31 Control" is slated for December 2017 release! I read "Zero Sum Game" and "Section 31 Disavowed" back-to-back and now have to return back to the SW universe to read a book that might link to Episode IX!!!

I hope Mack involves the Breen again and loads the new book with tech. And, of course, expand on the relationship between Julian and Sarina. Would be nice to know if isolated Cole & Co. could make it back.. ???

I liked the ideas of slipstream drive and juant ships, but wonder if a Warp Wave Rider tech will ever appear or covert plasma tunneler? Section 31 needs new tech too. The stealth suits were great, but in real life are vulnerable to sonic wave scanning and anomoly detectors!

What are these? Warp Wave Rider, do you mean the soliton wave thing from the TNG episode whose name slips my mind?
