Star Trek: Starships Model/Magazine Subscription

Well, at least there's some news. Thanks for posting that. I really wish they would send out bulk distro emails to their customers volunteering this information instead of us always having to ask for it. Someone needs to hire a communications consultant in that company.

I just received my first Eaglemoss ships, Equinox and Voyager. They both look fantastic, but Equinox's nacelles are a bit droopy. Is this common for that model or other long pylon starships like the Enterprise refit / E or Centaur etc?

I asked Ben Robinson on Twitter if they were going to do the plaque for the nuTrek 1701, he replied: "Oh, I hadn't thought of that... Was thinking 7 was enough. Now I'm not sure"
I hope so, because it's never been done before. In another reply to a question on what the seven plaques were, he mentioned the D, Voyager, Defiant, 1701, E, NX-01 and coyly "I can't remember!"

Another Twitter follower suggested the Excelsior, which would be okay in my book, as I don't believe there has been an official replica before for this, unlike the others so far.
Of course, I'd want the rest of the Enterprises too...

So, after two weeks of waiting, my ships finally arrived: 'These are the voyages of the starship Enterprise...'

The original Enterprise is absolutely stunning, every bit what I expected. It looks so simple without all the radial lines on the saucer, but then the original studio model never had those, only the CG version; I'm getting my father to file the plastic stand a little, though - can't have the tight fit scratching the paintwork. The Centaur is amazing, as is the Intrepid; I thought the Intrepid looked fat and chunky to begin with, and I was feeling I'd rushed my decision and ordered it for the sake of completionism...now, I realise why I like it - a familiar but unusual design. The 22nd Century Klingon Bird of Prey is faultless, and is one of the few non-Fed ships I really like; it's just like the Enterprise NX-01 in that it is a nod to the designs later on in the timeline, while being it's own thing as well. But I broke my personal rule of no non-Fed or non-Human ships, so I'm still on the wall about it - I have OCD, so things just *have* to be a certain way (I was somewhat over-enthusiastic when I placed my order during the sale). I suppose I'm not entirely breaking my rule...the augments stole it, so it counts as a Human-controlled ship, just like the original Klingon Bird of Prey (which I do not yet have).

EDIT: Just wanted to add...anyone know if it'd be possible to put together a makeshift impulse engine for the Enterprise C that looks good against the model? I haven't got this model yet, and it's really one of the things putting me off getting it (it would have been a guaranteed sale if it hadn't suffered from the missing impulse engine). If it's possible - and not too difficult - it might encourage me to buy it and make my own little modification to it.

Sadly, there's probably someone out there who will see that price, panic, thinks it's going up because it's getting hard to find and impulse-purchase it without doing a little more digging.

It really irks me whenever I see these ships for £15+ (especially £20+) on ebay...if only people looked to the Eaglemoss store, or to somewhere like Forbidden Planet (although they are limited to what older issues they can get in). Mind you, some people are probably put off by Eaglemoss' system of doing things due to past bad experience - they've changed their distributor over here in the UK, they have a big backlog...and ZERO communication with the warehouse. I was somehwat concerned after 1 week of waiting on my recent order due to the one Enterprise D I ordered last year becoming 'lost in transit' (given how poor the packaging was - you could easily peek inside the box, only these paper/plastic straps held it closed - it was probably pilfered); upon phoning and trying to find out what was happening, all they could say was that my order was being processed by the warehouse - they hadn't the faintest if it had yet been prepared for dispatch or had already been posted. Fortunately, I got my P&P refunded...next day delivery my foot! Yet, just before Christmas, they had a different warehouse - ordered a Tuesday evening, items came the Friday morning (I will give it to their new distributor - the box that came yesterday was properly sealed with tape, none of that silly strapping).

I got the Norway class the other day, meaning I'm now only one Saber away from having all of the "First Contact four". It's not quite as exciting as the Akira and it's a little flat, but I'm always happy to get another ship.

Unfortunately, like the Steamrunner, they took a front-heavy ship and made the mistake of having it connect to the stand at the very back. It's not quite as prone to falling over as the Steamrunner (which does so constantly), but that gap between the nacelle struts would've been a perfect spot for it to clip on (or on the outsides of the struts).

Also, anyone else find it interesting that is one of the few ships whose magazine lacks any article on designing the ship? Even the Hideki, which they apparently couldn't find anything on, had a whole article on them trying (and failing) to get ahold of anyone who could recall anything about making it.

Perhaps the design's unfortunate history (the CG pattern being corrupted and having to be rebuilt from scratch) was something they wished to downplay, lest they draw the ire of purists who are looking for flaws.

Yeah, the detail on the 22nd century BoP is amazing. The Romulan drone is a really nicely detailed ship too, with all the tiny antennas. I really like the Andorian ship too.

I think my favorite of the non-Fed/human ships that I have would have to be the Jem'Hadar battle cruiser. I really like that one (it was actually the first one I got from the set), but I'm partial to anything connected to the Dominion War.

I have an Equinox too and I don't recall the nacelles looking droopy. I actually have a Furuta model to compare it to. The only one I have that looks a bit skewed is the Stargazer.

I don't have a Voyager (in fact, it's now the only hero ship from any of the series that I don't have, as I just got the NX-01 and 1701-D last week, to complement the non-refit 1701 and Defiant I already had) and frankly, that one's not much of a priority for me. I've seen pictures of it and I'm not terribly impressed. The font for the registry number is all wrong and there's some rather large seam lines along the sides. Actually, I think Johnny Lightning did a better job with that one (and theirs had pivoting nacelles).

You're doing something wrong then, neither of mine have ever fallen over.
Same here. I feel the quality of the stands has improved with the newer issues - the only ones I have trouble keeping fitted are the Reliant and the Honshu, and those only start slipping if you actually touch them.

I don't know what to tell you. Maybe I just got a flimsy stand. The Defiant was early in the run and I haven't had any problems with that, though, admittedly, I wonder if I got a later copy of that one, since it doesn't have the backwards pennant on the nacelle that some people have complained about.

I've got a Honshu/Nebula coming in a week or two. I'll see how the stand for that one treats me.

I have had up and down success with the stands. Sometimes it seems to be the model is balanced funny and other times it just seems like the clear plastic piece doesn't fit in the base very well.

The stand with my Tholian is hard to use- the way it slips on is not stable but if I work at it suddenly it snaps into place and is very secure.
