CBS/Paramount sues to stop Axanar

It does seem like he would've jumped ship at the first mention of a new TV series. He already had a relationship with CBS. I imagine that is gone now.

We talked about this quite a bit back in the late 200's of this thread (lol)-- but what really gets me is how the people involved like Burnett, who have worked on shows legitimately, continue to thumb their nose at CBS.

You'd think someone who wants to keep the chance of more work with them to at least be contrite and humble. If in the face of the suit he or others in similar spots had claimed ignorance or even FAKED it, or been apologetic and willing to make amends, maybe they could preserve their professional relationships and had a shot at working on a future production.

And it makes me wonder if CBS management has issued any instructions not to hire anyone involved in Axanar, from someone like Burnett, to concept artists, writers, FX people, or even actors like Hertzler and Graham, since Trek has a long history of re-using cast members.

Todd left the project, so maybe he could still be on good terms.

Tony Todd is a good actor and someone I'd like to see work in Trek again. The rest? They never were very good actors to begin with.

I hope they get Tony Todd to play Starfleet Admiral Martinez in the new show.

CBS has already won, they don't need to spike the ball.
Well, technically they haven't won yet (and believe me, I don't think they'll loose, or not get a very favorable judgement should they take it all the way to a courtroom); BUT, until the case has been fully adjudicated, you never know.
^^^
All that said, at this point I would say Mr. Bunnett (and Mr. Gerrold) are each one of the 20 possible unnamed 'John Does'; so, given that fact, while the lawsuit is in litigation, I highly doubt CBS would hire anyone who had any tangible connection to Axanar Productions until the case is concluded.

By the time this works its way through the courts, I doubt Axanar will have any money or credibility left.

No one ever needs to spike the ball...but they do it. ;)

I think dabbing is the thing, now. Not spiking. Although maybe not so much now after the Super Bowl. (I'm looking at you, Mr. Newton.)

If the case is settled out of court, it's unlikely as a condition of the settlement that any of those involved in the case will be able to talk about it. But it would be interesting if they could. Some good people who should've easily known better were pulled in deep. Their personal reasons for doing it would be interesting to hear. Talking to Peters about it with two or three years of hindsight would be interesting.

:wtf:

So now we have:

-Doxxing, censoring, and harassing dissenters
-Threats of lawsuits being thrown around willy-nilly
- Encouraging followers to cut off contact with people who might be able to plant seeds of doubt regarding Alec's claims, or influence their views in a way that Alec doesn't like.

It's like the guy read 'Going Clear' and thought it was a 'How to...' guide.

Don't forget they constantly bury the lead when it's bad by posting bad news in follow up comments.

Today we learned that...

and...

So, in short: "We're not talking about what you paid for nor will you be getting the things you paid for."

And their supports will either be completely ok with this, or they blame CBS for the suit, and not Axanar for so blatantly crossing the line that incurred it.

likely AP believes that the Axanar FB site is a *private corporate activity* owned by Axanar (him), where concepts such as free speech, participants having any rights, presence of any content not sanctioned by Axanar is 100% quashable without any thought to the contrary, on "he owns the site" grounds, since none of these concepts are protected in a corporate setting. I wonder when a group of Axanar supporters will start their own group not controlled by tptb, and really start hashing out what has happened. they will need savvy moderators to stave off concerted waves of kamikaze trolls, but I bet it will happen soon. when it does, one can bet that one of the first attacks will be to ban from the main axanar group anyone who registers for the other one. ah, the glories of real name.

It really is starting to sound like a friggin cult over there, or a dictatorship.

I would love to see Hertzler and Graham in guest roles.
I could see the people higher up in the production never working with CBS, but I'm not sure about the cast members. Since none of them were probably involved in the decision making, I don't think it would be entirely fair to penalize them. But that's just me, I'm not sure how the people who actually work for CBS would feel.

reminds me more of the followers in Life of Brian. warning, mildly nsfw/language

So they bought a warehouse for Propworx. I bet the donors are thrilled.

rented, and sunk money they'll have to leave behind. and if propworx is running for profit operations in the resource built on fan money, I'd be surprised if the donor base really knows it yet.
