Spoilers Supergirl - Season 1

Benoist and Jenner are insperateable. They are in a romantic relationship on glee, they're starting one on Supergirl and they are married in real life. Is this show becoming what Glee season 4 should have been? :D

That was a great episode. Loved the stuff with Hank and the White Martian. Also loved Supergirl's involvement and he she has been developed all season. As for the Cat stuff, I enjoyed it. Not sure if I am looking forward to Ryder/Marley II (Another Glee reference) but we'll see. I hope the Winn moping around doesn't last long. Those two scenes were the worst of the episode.

Maybe Kitty ( BeccaTobin) can show up and cause trouble.
 
The writers of the show have added to the Martian Manhunter character mythology by giving him more than one daughter, which is neat... although it does make me want somebody to reach out on Twitter and ask how to spell the second daughter's name.
 
Martian white and green, always seemed like a parallel for Earther Black and White.

How White Martians are shown here, as a completely different species, stops this being an allegory about race.

It's like the writer/producers took a step away from the conversation out of fear?

Between these two, and Gustin playing The Flash, it wouldn't surprise me at all to see networking result in roles for other Glee actors. Heck, I think they should go with it - there were some good actors on Glee, many of whom were underutilized for their actual acting chops in favor of their musical ones. (Or misutilized by some of the seriously hamfisted plots on that show.)

I got the impression that was the last of moping. He's standoffish in the first scene, and initiating in the second, which was a subtle and unobtrusive way of showing him dealing with it and moving on.
I sincerely hope they don't regress the situation the very next episode with another love interest in play.

Anyways I really liked the episode, Supergirl's been knocking it out of the park for the past few weeks, it's become the superhero show I most look forward to each week.

The only complaint I have for this episode is that they didn't close the doors behind them whenever they went to the "secret room for J'onn J'onnz talk". Seriously guys, those conversations got loud and hallways have a tendency to echo :D

Totally agree, I thought this was one of the strongest episodes yet, with both the Hank and Cat storylines being a lot more moving than I expected. And the Mars and White Martian effects were some of the strongest we've seen yet on this show (with a Martian design that looked cool enough to be in a movie).

And the forest fire scene also looked pretty spectacular as well, so much so that I really wish the episode had made more of an extended sequence out of it.

The one part that was underwhelming was the boy-meets-girl stuff with Adam and Kara. It seemed so ordinary in the midst of all this great stuff.

Actually I thought that worked just as well as everything else. Benoist was somehow even more ridiculously charming than ever in those scenes, and they really did seem to have great chemistry together. And of course it's always a lot of fun when she gets super nervous and goofy like that. :)
 
Great episode. We really got some good stuff for J'Onn and Cat here.
Definitely agree that the Martian effects were outstanding.
The stuff with Cat and Adam gave us some really nice character stuff for her.
It was cool getting to learn so much about J'Onn and the flashbacks were really cool.
 
We are really enjoying this one.

I had no idea about Bennett and Jenner... guess I should have watched Glee :-) Thought I saw a twinkle in her eye...

I was hoping she would get together with Winn.

I think it's not unusual. Once you get your foot in you can start building a reputation and in the case of Benoist she displayed similar characteristics on Glee (judging from when i still was watching and she was introduced) so she may have been on the wishlist of the producers. Even if not and she went through the normal audition process she would have Glee as a reference which is way more than most other candidates would have had.

It's the same in normal job world.. once you have some work experience it's way easier to apply for a new job.

I liked the episode very much except for the new romantic plot.. again. What is it wiith Kara and decent looking guys? First Jimmy, then Cat's son.. does she have to fall for every guy who is just nice to her? And what about poor Winn? He poured his heart out to her, she doesn't feel like this about him (okay, shit happens) but then he has to watch the whole Jimmy fiasco unfold again in front of his eyes just with a different guy? (and why am i sounding like a gossip girl now? :confused::shrug:)
 
Did Winn design and make her costume underwear?

I seriously though it was going to be a time travel episode.

No different than Oliver in Arrow in the first season.
 
There's an unsubstantiated rumor going around FB that Tom Welling will play Superman when he finally shows his face on Supergirl. (Unsubstantiated as in, Welling says he has not been contacted about the possibility.) That seems to me like it would be SUPER stupid. It would be nice to see him in the costume a bit more, but it would imply that Supergirl exists in the Smallville continuity, when that doesn't make any sense.

UNLESS... they want to imply/say that Smallville happened on Earth-2 or some other parallel?

:shrug:
