I feel like we should give Voyager credit for having a very interesting cast with just 3(or 6 depending how you count the Doctor, Seven of Nine and Torres) aliens. (And also for everything else especially the relaunch novels and the two-parters.)

Despite the fact that I think DS9 is the best series, Voyager is definitely my favorite and always has been. I had a long and heart wrenching struggle watching that series as a teen without a UPN affiliate for half the shows' run. Losing it and having to struggle to see any farther episodes gave it a special place in my heart. The fact that I can turn on any episode right this instant on Netflix would have really amazed my teenage self.

Now it's finally revealed....

Michael. It doesn't come as surprise. Luckily no one seems to call his/her child "Moon Unit" or something like that.....

In chapter 1 (page 9) Conlon lists Janeway and Harry Kim as people who came back from the dead. Janeway died in Before Dishonor and came back in The Eternal Tide but when did Harry die?

In one of the Voyager episodes with the second Voyager: Harry was sucked into space.... At least on of the Harrys. The other changed the ship, together with Naomi Wildman. Come to think of it: even Naomi was returned to life.

But technically he died and a dublicate returned. Fun Fact: The fate of the sucked-into-space Harry in Deadlock was revealed in the STO mission Dust to Dust.

In the episode "Emanations", Harry dies so that his body can be transported back to a place where the Voyager crew can find him. He is then revived by the Doctor. I think he was legally dead for a minute or so.

Thanks. Now I don't have to think the whole time about that.

Just finished it, and totally loved it. Kirsten's fantastic run on the Voyager relaunch has been the highlight of my treklit reading 'career'. It even got me watching the show on Netflix once again. I hope we get tons more Voyager from her in the future. We are so lucky to have her :)

Copy has shipped, should be here tomorrow!! Can't wait. IMO, DRGIII on DS9 and Beyer on VOY is always good stuff! Should be so good.

I'm waaay behind on this series. I've read Full Circle and Unworthy, then got behind. So i just said, why not, a new star trek novel is out, so i'm just gonna jump right in. I'm about 50 pages in and loving it so far. Kirsten has made this such an easy story to get into.

Sorry for the last comment, but I can't find the "delete" button... so I try again..

I haven't read the comments in this thread so far, because I don't want to see any spoilers, but I have to leave a comment right now, because I am just to very amazed by this novel that it leaves me breathles.

I am 80 pages in and I am overwhelmed by its speed, by the plot, by the characters. It's so hard to go to work in the mornings. It takes me of course a bit longer to read since English isn't my mother tongue, but it's really damn hard to put it away. I almost can't. What's happening now on page 80 is maybe what I had expected to come at the very end of the book, but it the speed just doesn't stop and I really have no clue where the story goes and what will happen.

Wow, I am really really excited about this book so far and I just want to drop a very special note to Kirsten Beyer saying that after 80 pages only I think that this is the best Voyager novel you have written so far. I couldn't rate it 10, it wouldn't deserve a 10, but a 20.

I really can't wait to go on reading this tonight. I am thrilled.

I have some questions to Ms. Beyer, though:
1.) How long does it take for you to come up with ideas like these? How long do you create a story like this before you start writing?
2.) What made you decide to take Shattered and Year of Hell, combine them and create a new story (that even makes total sense to me)?

And here's also a message to the author: Thank you! I simply love the fact how well you know the characters and how dearly you hold them to your heart. I can read it in every line of every Voyager book you wrote. It must be hard to "work" with characters you haven't created on your own - but it doesn't show a bit.

Got it, started reading. Great so far. :) I've seen the spoiler about Shattered, but haven't got to the part where that becomes obvious, yet (just at the start of chapter 2). I love the Icheb subplot so far, and really want to see more of Miral. :D

How can people read slowly? I've tried.

My physical copy arrived today. I wasn't expecting it until sometime later this week.

Here there be spoilers.

Tuvok! :)

It's a really great read so far. Very exciting story. Not a lot of Paris and Torres but that's ok as they were used a lot in previous stories. I'm glad they are least together for once...the two of them being separated is almost a mini trope or maybe it's just me remembering the 'big' separations when B'Elanna pretended to be dead and Tom was on earth for the custody battle. The relationship most featured in this one is Harry and Nancy Conlon.

No description of Michael? Does he have forehead ridges? Did the comment by B'Elanna about him crying around Tom a prediction about the old Paris father/son conflict?

I don't have a list of favorite relaunch books but if I did this one would be close to the top.
