Axanar is the trek film I have been asking for. I loved the concept.
It’s the way that they have misused the IP and put other fan productions in danger that has upset me.

I would welcome this, providing that creative liberty remains with film creators in terms of length and subject matter. We want to tell our stories in the way we want to tell them. I'd hate for someone to tell us that we can't do any "Amok Time" stories or that they have to be "no more than ten minutes" in length.
The concept certainly has promise, but was not what I was "asking for." Me? I'd like a return to non-serialized Trek, to be honest.
Axanar's concept though is interesting, i'm just not really looking for more stories set in Trek's past. And it certainly would not be worth seeing if produced by amateurs. Certainly there are some nice people involved, but one needs good producers and a truly professional project leader to help shape the ideas into a piece of high quality storytelling.
The star wars prequels are a perfect example of a great cast, the best FX studio and great crew-- who turned out dreck because the producers didn't do their jobs.
Well then you wouldn't like the way Lucasfilm is running their fan-film community either. I would absolutely restrict length just as Lucas has done. Basically, what you're asking for is carte blanche. But if you want the studio to support fan films, you have to accept that there will be some rules and restrictions.
As far as I’m aware they did not use public donations for the carpet.
They only used the profits they made from selling coffee. That makes it ok.

I have a feeling this is exactly what is going to happen. If fan films survive the lawsuit.

I am 100% sure it's a fake.
1.) Alec prefers to use caps for emphasis instead of asterisks.
2.) Alec does not end his sentences with ellipses.
3.) In another post, which is far more likely to be his, Alec spoke well of other fan films.
4.) Alec knows what a period is.
Also, check out some of the other posts in the thread. Fake Alec apparently forgot everything he knew about good grammar.

It's seriously like someone's doing a bad parody of Peters and failing horribly.

Fake Alec Peters has given up on any semblance of poor parody and just turned into your garden variety troll. Of course that's all he (?) ever was. Someone who truly wanted to make people think it was Alec posting would have put more work into mimicking his style.
