Unsued Production Check In

Rumor has it you guys are shutting down during "the troubles".

Is that true or are you guys humming along (but keeping your head down)?

"You guys"? Who?

Squiggy maybe you oughta edit your OP to make clearer than you're asking people from as-yer-unserved productions how they are acting whilst this case is up in the air. I had no idea quite what you meant at first.

We filmed with the Starship Deimos crew this past weekend. We did pickup shots for "Pas de Trois," our first episode. We shot another episode, "The Archive." And we shot a vignette, "Aftermath." We did ADR sessions for each of our principles. A film crew from Beyond Geek (PBS) was here, documenting how a zero budget fan film is made the entire time. We posted over 400 pictures in the Starship Deimos Facebook group. And this evening, I've been cataloging the captured video while working on cleaning up the bedroom in our house I keep the computer.

Next month, we're shooting a vignette for Battlecruiser Kupok and a vignette for Starship Tristan.

Ooops...
And that doesn't even include the work the VFX guys are doing for Project: Potemkin "The Last Child."

Post-holiday, dead of winter is kind of our quiet time. It's hard to tell if we are quieter than usual. We continue to work on our sets, and we are putting together our Trekonderoga Star Trek convention for Labor Day weekend.

And we released "The Holiest Thing" a couple of days ago.

Anyone heard of "Fish in a Barrel"? .. Everyone not sued check in over here, and please maintain the list in the OP. It's easier to investigate that way.. ;) . It's a strange thread title.

I'm not worrying about it. I do this stuff for fun, because I like playing in that sandbox. If I have to move on to my own sandbox, well it's been fun while it lasted, but it certainly wouldn't be the end of the world. Might not even be a bad thing.

Might not even be a bad thing.

This whole lawsuit business certainly has me thinking in new directions. I've been kicking an idea around for a while now, and since the outcome of this suit could potentially nuke fan films from orbit, I'm trying to figure out if it can stand on its own, in its own universe. It'll be a fun exercise if nothing else.

That said, part of the fun of my particular idea is the opportunity to comment on the "standard behavior" of the Trekverse without dipping into parody. It amuses me. :)

I really hope that fan films don't get nuked from orbit.

I think the result is that fan films will not be able to do crowd-source funding, that the "rules" set down by CBS will be a bit more strictly enforced, but that for the most part films like my own, like Aurora, like Farragut and its sequel, like Antillus, like Starbase Studios, like Intrepid, we will remain pretty much untouched. The bigger buck productions might have reason to worry, but honestly, as long as they abide by the "rules," I think...I hope things will be fine.

I heard that Farragut is moving into the TMP era which probably means crazy expensive sets if they go in that direction.

@Zaminhon You're quite correct. The new series, Farragut Forward, will take some of their crew into the TWOK era, as I understand it. I don't believe they're planning on building complete sets, however I may be mistaken.
