Hey I am Finally doing 3d or at least learning it.

Nice work! I particularly like the design of the McIntosh. Looks like you've already got a decent set of modeling skills, and the imagination to back it up. I'm guessing the next step in the learning process is texturing?

Personally, I never progressed much with 3D since the way meshing programs tend to work is very much at odds with the way solid modeling programs work (I do solid modeling as part of my job).

Go, man, go!

I gave up. I've been fiddling with 3D since I had an Amiga 500 on the late 80s. I just don't seem to have any talent (or patience!) for it.

Yeah I fought getting into 3d for a long time, but now it is where if I ever want to break into any film studios I need to learn.

Yeah I much rather model andlet someone texture my work. I haven't figured out the UV mapping part yet.

Hey Sean, good to see you back. I absolutely love the shape of the sauce for the U.S.S.McIntosh. Good work overall, good luck in your learning.

Hi, Titan,

First off, again, you are off to a great start. I realize I am an amateur myself, but your first works are really great. You blow me out of the water. :) Keep it up!

Second: Again, speaking as an amateur, I thought I would have problems with UV wraps and textures, but there are plenty of online videos on YouTube that have tutorials for texturing, for probably just about any 3D modeling app out there.

I don't know which program you use, but I use Blender, and there are tons of UV wrap and texturing tuts out there at many levels of skill.

Heh, when I attempted my first true unwrap and texture, I referred to a video that was several years old, for a version of Blender several builds back.... and it helped demystify a lot of it tremendously.

If you use Blender, might I recommend also the tutorials of Alimayo Arrango. He's got a lot of cool tuts, usually simplistic, but it helps break into UV unwrapping and texturing.

Great work, I keep saying I want to learn 3D but everytime I manage to start I end up leaving it again and completely forget any skills I have picked up!

Really like the Tucker, for some reason I am really loving the way you inverted the traditional shape of the shuttlebay doors :)

Beautiful! work! Love the design! :)

Starburst, what I do when I want to learn something is go to YouTube, and use Firefox's add-ons that are available to download the video so I always have the tutorial on hard drive. If I need to relearn something, it's right there. :)

Just a general announcement, while I am flattered with the multiple requests for 3D commissions (I really am flattered thanks), I am just still learning how to work in the 3D world and I am not ready YET to take on custom orders. Eventually when I feel ready I will take them. It feels good though that so many of you have been messaging me asking for one based off of my designs I have been cutting my teeth with. I lets me know that I might be worthy one day.
- Thanks
Sean
