We'll never know how good/bad Axanar would have been, but I'm betting that six months, a year tops the script will leak and we'll at least know how good/bad it could have been.

    Yep.

There's a documentary called Hot Coffee about the suit and what led up to it. :techman:

I'm tired of always correcting people on the "Hot Coffee" lawsuit as the media recklessly mis-portrayed it. It was a very, very legitimate lawsuit.

Thanks for this. I kinda eyerolled earlier when the Hot Coffee suit was brought up. It's annoying that it seems to be the pinnacle of frivolous lawsuits when there are much better examples.

Looking at the Karzak post a little while back- I chose to paruse the Dan Hillenbrand blog a bit.

Lo and behold! He linked to a Axanar Hitler/Downfall meme.

It's funny, but misspellings abound. I wish a little more time had been taken. So many choice insider tidbits were missed.

I am glad someone did this before I did- 'cause, like, I was gonna waste days doing it myself. I'd been collecting some choice rants and everything.

If this has been posted somewhere upthread- please pardon the repeat. Just... so ... many... pages.

Here's the link for any that care and haven't seen it before.

Things have gone real quiet over at Axanar in the last 24 hours. Think it's just the approaching weekend?

Robert Meyer Burnett posted this on his Instagram. Be sure to read his caption.

I think, because it's the weekend, they thought they'd be able to get away with this:

Then again, Burnett is always getting ahead of himself with his overreactions, so who knows what this really means? Maybe he's just attention-whoring right now because he's sad about all the fuss. Maybe he's walking away from the project, at last. Or maybe Alec Peters is just too proud to come out and say what we all already know -- that Axanar is dead in the water.

I agree. And I don't think a wooden captain's chair was the best idea.

Mickey Rooney: Well, I hope you're all satisfied. You bankrupted a bunch of naive movie folks: folks from a Hollywood where values are... different. They weren't thinking about the money. They just wanted to tell a story: a story about a radioactive man, and you slick small-towners took 'em for all they were worth.

    [Everybody looks upset]

Otto: [sniffles] Do we give them some of their money back?

    Mayor Quimby: [weeps] No.

Pretty sure all captain's chairs are wood at that point.

That's true. I was trying to make a joke.

    I failed.

The graphics are probably temps anyway. So what's he playing at there, just wants to see how worked up he can get the skeptics?

It's possible that in their world, it's all about them. They just want a reaction. They just want to get the pity party going even more for their benefit because then they win... something?

Sometimes these passive aggressive types just want to feel like they have an impact on things, like they matter.

How appropriate that Rob's project is getting "smacked down."

It might surprise you to know that I'm actually aware of that. My sarcasm is just a little too subtle for my own good sometimes.

I mean, doesn't it sound at all familiar?

<someone gets taken for their money by a crowdfund campaign>
    "It was a donation!"
"Everyone knows it might not happen!"
    "Idiot should have known better!"

Next step? Someone gets smacked with a lawsuit, the truth of the matter comes out, and the defendant ends up putting disclaimers on things.

Yup, it's legitimate. And necessary IMO. And people keep calling the victim an idiot, because that's just the way people are.

Heh. There are just so many possible responses that I just can't pick one, so I'll just say that I had the same reaction. :)
